THE INSPIRED HOME SHOW 2024
THE INSPIRED HOME SHOW 2024
O
ne of the aspects of the Chicago show which tends to set it
apart for the visitor from other large-scale housewares shows is the amount of ‘stuff’ on offer over and above the actual exhibitors! From the Keynote Speaker
addresses and industry experts in the Innovation Theater talking trends and signposting opportunities to the various displays of products, brands and ideas, like Pantone Colour Watch. The gia Global Innovation Award winners feature in displays, for product and retailing, both of which this year included a strong showing from the UK – Joseph Joseph winning the Cook & Bakeware award with its 10pc Space cookware and Divertimenti picking up two awards for digital commerce and in-store retailing innovation! This year, show organisers the IHA had made some changes to
the layout bringing the SDA Expo Wired & Well from its outlying hall in Lakeside to join Clean & Contain in the North Hall. Across the concourse was Dine & Décor in South Hall. There were 1,648 exhibitors from 38 countries, with nearly 30,000 home and housewares professionals from over 120 countries coming together over the three days of the show. The SDA exhibitors brought a real vibrancy to the proceedings: check out Made by Gather from New York – brightly coloured room sets to showcase their products + a DJ on site! Also major player Cuisinart, with a huge offering towards the back of the hall.
26 | March/April 2024 Dine & Décor hosts glassware,
tabletop, cookware and bakeware and has been the historic home for large-stand US brands like Gibson, Lifetime Brands and Nordic Ware. The UK’s own RKW were exhibiting for the been increasing its dominance in the hall in recent years and this year had a huge stand with its new Tucci by GreenPan cookware. Actor-chef Stanley Tucci wasn’t the only famous name associated with products on show – there was Paris Hilton and probably my favourite tie-up, Dolly Parton with Lodge Cast Iron (distributed by Eddingtons) featuring mini skillets in the shape of guitars!

This year’s show saw a new layout bringing together the main Expos into two halls rather than three, making it eminently more walkable for the visitor, as Sarah Selzer discovered.
The new layout also brought with it some of the specialist exhibitors and displays that had been housed in Lakeside – admittedly that had only been a short walk across an internal footbridge but potentially if you weren’t looking for SDA, it might have dropped off your to do list. So Smart Home, Inventors’ Corner and displays of the gia global winners – retailers from around the world being recognised for their innovation in visual merchandising. Always worth a look! Clean & Contain is the home for storage brands, many of whom
have large stands with mini room sets. The US is the acknowledged birthplace of the storage phenomenon, which has become so key in the UK in recent years. There were some great options to check out – some already in the UK like Umbra and Bigso Box of Sweden (in the UK through distributor Forvara) but also some new names currently looking to widen their reach.
