Brief company history Baxi has grown to become one of the UK’s best-known and most respected brands in the heating and hot water industry since setting up in Lancashire in 1866. Celebrating its 160th year in 2026, Baxi still operates its major manufacturing base in the Preston area. It has been part of the BDR Thermea Group since 2009, a major player in the European HVAC sector. Baxi’s historic portfolio of homeowner and
commercial brands, including Potterton, Andrews, Heatrae Sadia, Remeha and Main, today trade under the one Baxi brand. Commercial customers are also served by Baxi
Packaged Solutions (BPS), with designed and built pre-fabricated HVAC solutions delivered to exacting requirements at our factory for rapid installation at the customer’s site. Baxi serves the burgeoning heat network business community with a range of HIUs, thermal substations and Mercurius, our remote monitor, maintenance and management system.
Baxi ASHP provides reliable, low-carbon hot water for award-winning campsite
A
Baxi air source heat pump (ASHP) system is providing energy- efficient hot water for a new shower block at Carmarthenshire County Council’s Family Caravan and Camping Park at Pembrey
Country Park. Named Best Campsite in South West Wales at the December 2024 South West Wales Tourism Awards, the park is investing in modern, accessible facilities to enhance the visitor experience. M&E consultants Pursey and Ball oversaw the project’s design and
delivery, working with Baxi as the selected equipment manufacturer. The hot water system needed to serve one family, one accessible, five male and five female showers, while offering reliability, a long service life and low maintenance requirements. The brief also called for net zero carbon operation and compliance with Welsh Building Regulations and CIBSE commissioning requirements. Following several site visits, Baxi’s technical sales and design teams
developed an all-electric heat pump and immersion system combining a Baxi Auriga HP 40 ASHP with a 1,000-litre Megaflo cylinder. Baxi’s specialist engineers commissioned the installation and will maintain it to support ongoing performance and efficiency. The Baxi ASHP system delivers reliable hot water for more than 100
caravan visitors, supporting hygiene and comfort in the new cedar- clad shower facility. Water-saving fixtures and 10kW of solar PV panels complement the renewable heating technology, contributing to the Council’s
Baxi’s award-winning training services help thousands of installers transition to air-source heat pumps annually. Our own team of 250 engineers maintain customers’ heating year-round and are rated 4.6* on trust pilot for customer service.
As one of the founding members of The Construction Inclusion Coalition (CIC), Baxi is focussed on improving equity, diversity and inclusion across the construction industry, to retain and attract talent, and ensure the longevity of the industry.
Baxi has a long-term commitment to STEM disciplines. Partnering with the BDR Foundation, the company works with established learning and careers organisations, including Primary Engineer and World Skills, to inspire the next generation of engineers to help transition our fossil fuel economy to low or no carbon alternatives in the decades to come.
wider ambition to improve visitor infrastructure in an environmentally responsible way. Mervyn Mayers, Director at Pursey and Ball, highlighted the importance of manufacturer expertise and support: “Baxi have brought their heating expertise and understanding of hydronic systems to their heat pump solutions, which are backed with their signature customer service and back-up support. Given the greater technical complexity associated with ASHP projects, being able to rely on the experience and support of manufacturers like Baxi will be vital to delivering optimal outcomes.” Discover the full Baxi ASHP range at
