NAADUK LAUNCHES NAAD22 FIRE DAMPER GUIDANCE DOCUMENT

T

he National Association of Air Duct Specialists UK (NAADUK) has just launched its new guidance document NAAD-22: Fire Dampers. The purpose of the document is to inform, educate and improve standards for fi re dampers across the installation, maintenance and testing spheres. NAADUK contents that by following the steps laid out in the document it will give technicians, designers and testers confi dence in the correct handling of fi re dampers across all sites in the built environment.

The document has been written with the

background knowledge of all users in mind, from those who are just beginning their journey to those with decades of experience in fi re safety. The whole document lays out correct procedures and processes with detailed graphics, fl owcharts and pictures to assist in comprehension of the complexities of the required standards including, but not limited to, BS:9999, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 & Approved Document B. NAAD22 has been split into three sections,

encompassing Routine Maintenance, Testing & Inspection, Installation Testing & Commissioning and Design for and Selection of Fire Dampers. NAADUK believes this document will contribute

to a safer and healthier environment for all. Many of the guidelines, standards and regulations developed by the various associations concerned have contributed greatly to increased safety and

wellbeing. NAADUK is building on those pieces to bring everything together in one comprehensive document. Nygel Humphrey, head of the NAAD-22 working group, who produced the document stated: ‘The opportunity arose within NAADUK, whose members regularly come across post install issues when carrying out annual maintenance, to create a working group to identify the common issues and address these through publication, with the sole objective of creating a clear guide to inform and create a solid platform to raise competency and understanding within the industry.” To get your copy of NAAD-22: Fire Dampers either in print or as a download contact admin@naaduk. co.uk or visit naaduk.co.uk – NAADUK are happy to support any organisation involved in the fi re damper space to improve their technical knowledge free of charge through NAAD-22: Fire Dampers.
