Cutting carbon in heating

A

s one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions, heating has been targeted by the government to

achieve progress towards its Net Zero by 2050 goal.

It won’t be easy and industry experts

widely accept it will require that all products and technologies with carbon cutting credentials will need to be embraced.

This month’s commercial heating feature

looks broadly at a variety of solutions, some of which will be key to decarbonising heat in commercial buildings. Some might consider infrared heating, described as a highly-cost effective technology which can contribute to lowering carbon footprint and significantly cutting energy bills. (pg10) Others might find solar thermal systems particularly interesting if they need large amounts of domestic hot water. (pg12) What about Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil

(HVO) for off-grid commercial properties? Could it be the answer? (pg15) And finally, many of these solutions will depend on the latest advancements in commercial heating controls to make them work most effectively. (pg 17) These are all excellent features and well worth a read in this issue of HVR.
