ecently awareness has grown on the critical importance of rare earth metals to modern technology including heat pumps and HVAC systems. This is driven by the acceleration of the energy


transition with Net Zero policies translating into a surge in demand for renewables. In HVAC and low carbon heating these rare earth metals enable high- efficiency electrification, just what the sector is being pushed towards. It’s worth noting that in 2024, rare earth elements for magnets were


placed on the UK’s critical minerals list due to their essential role in green technologies, coupled with the lack of domestic supply. It’s good to see therefore that HVAC companies are leading the


way in sustainable sourcing and our news story on pg 7 details how water treatment specialist ADEY is getting involved in a University of Birmingham commercial scale rare earth magnet recycling facility.
