FUSION Plus Solar Thermal for cost-effective carbon reduction

A

dveco offers commercial organisations with low to mid-capacity domestic hot water (DHW) demands a simple, cost- effective means for transitioning to

fully electric low-carbon water heating with its highly resilient FUSION electric water heating system.

For organisations considering, but not ready to commit to a heat pump-based system, FUSION T is available now with an option that delivers a twin-coil stainless steel tank and mounted ARDENT electric boiler and controls without the heat pump preheat. This iteration futureproofs the system or allows for solar thermal to be introduced into the lower coil as the system preheat. FUSION’s controls optimise top-up heating from the boiler as the pre-heat fluctuates across the year. With FUSION now supporting capacities up to 750 litres with 24 kW heat output, it is suitable for solar systems designed for small to medium-sized buildings. While solar thermal systems will typically be designed to evenly split capacity between the preheater and after heater, this single-cylinder FUSION scenario uses Adveco’s smart controls to ‘cheat’ the system in favour of the solar thermal input. Adveco can deliver a 600-litre solar capacity application in a 750-litre tank for an extremely compact all-electric, low-carbon emission, solar water heating system with a minimal rooftop or façade footprint. Adveco specialises in the provision of system design and supply for commercial water heating and solar thermal applications. www.adveco.co

MHIAE Systems help Rowan House achieve sustainability goals

E

nergy-efficient heating, cooling, and hot water generation systems manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioning Europe (MHIAE), part of the MHI Group, are helping Colchester City Council to achieve its sustainability goals.

A total of 13 3-pipe VRF heat recovery systems from the second generation KXZ range, with capacities from 28kW-67kW, were connected to 105 indoor standard and compact cassettes and wall mounts. The KXZ range offers cooling capacities from 22.4kW-67.0kW. The modular outdoor units can also be “twinned” or “tripled” providing up to 168.0kW on a single system. The range has a total piping length of 1000m, and the furthest indoor unit can be connected up to 220m from the outdoor unit. The units offer high levels of design flexibility, which helped to simplify the installation process.

Installed at Rowan House with a 1000-litre storage cylinder, MHIAE’s 30kW Q-ton heat pump operates using CO2 – a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 1 – and produces hot water between 60°C and 90°C. It can operate down to ambient temperatures as low as at -25°C ambient temperature, with no loss in capacity to -7°C.

Beijer Ref’s MHI specifcation manager, said: “Generating high- temperature hot water at good efficiencies all year round has always been a challenge, but Q-ton achieves this in a reliable manner using proven technology.”

No space? No problem. Fernox adds new filter to its product range

F

ernox has launched the new sealed and ultra-compact TF1 Sigma Mini, providing a practical filter solution for smaller volume systems with restricted space.

With an excellent collection capacity to capture system contaminants, it is simple to install and service. By adding the TF1 Sigma Mini to the extensive Fernox portfolio, installers can now find a filter option to suit every requirement.

Combining the quality of the Fernox brand with a simple, ultra-compact design, the new magnetic TF1 Sigma Mini from Fernox is ideal for social housing, new build properties and smaller volume heating systems. The filter comes ready-to-install and is easy to fit in under two minutes thanks to its slip socket manifold design. Ideally installed horizontally on vertical pipework, the sealed filter can be installed in tight spaces as it only requires a 106mm pipework footprint.

The filter also acts as a handy dosing point for the Fernox range of chemical water treatments, featuring a unique drain port which allows for quick and controlled cleaning or draining without the need to disassemble the filter.

Based on the technology of the original Sigma model and backed with an impressive 10-year warranty, the TF1 Sigma Mini is designed to protect the boiler from the damaging effects of circulating corrosion debris as well as provide installers with a compact option and performance they can trust.
