Air conditioning AI works to

Tyneham natural refrigerant commercial heat pumps

improve buildings and healthcare environments

Distech Controls’ Resense Move is a new AI-powered multi-sensor that improves indoor air quality, saves energy and enhances a building’s daily activities.

D

esigned to enhance the comfort of those visiting, recovering and working in the building, the solution places patients and staff at the centre of how a building operates. It can be installed in both new-build and refurbishment

projects. In healthcare environments, bed space is at a premium and there is a constant

stream of visitors, as a result it is important to know who is using a space and when. The Resense Move multi-sensor will count the number of people in a space and provide a proactive solution which immediately renews the airfl ow in the building according to the occupancy levels unlike a standard CO2 sensor which needs to be sent a command. The integrated visual LED indicator provides reliable information about the space, letting building operators and facility managers know if there is a problem with the air quality such as a build-up of CO2 or VOCs.

Another key feature for healthcare settings is the noise sensor, as excessive noise levels throughout the hospital can harm the physical and mental wellbeing of staff and patients. The multi-sensor will indicate with LED lights if the noise level exceeds the recommended level. Through open APIs, data can also be

integrated into third-party dashboards so a nurse can immediately identify and receive an alarm if the noise reaches an abnormal level and facility managers can track noise levels across rooms or areas. Using AI signifi cantly improves the collection of data from a building, enabling building owners and managers to adapt systems and services - such as heating, ventilation and lighting systems, cleaning rotas and even catering services - to better serve occupants while improving performance and energy effi ciency. The ability to count people thanks to an integrated thermal sensor would not be possible without the support of AI technology, the precision and learning that must take place would be limited without it.
