Smith Brothers Stores is one of the largest and oldest independent HVAC merchants operating in the UK that directly focuses on supplying to the commercial and industrial mechanical services sector. To this date, the business remains family owned with 5th generation family members present within a 400+ strong workforce


A rich history Everybody at Smith Brothers is proud to be celebrating our 125th anniversary since founder Walter Smith began to lay the foundations of what would become one of the UK’s largest independent merchants.


The business has transitioned significantly since


1897 from manufacturing boilers for the shipping industry, furnishing hundreds of mills built within Leicester and assisting with the war efforts, before


turning to focus predominantly on piping and HVAC supplies as the market grew in the 1960s.

Specialising in the distribution of pipework, valves, air conditioning along with all associated fittings and ancillaries, our ultimate mission is to offer additional value through service excellence.


Our experience allows us to draw on strong relationships with carefully selected, quality- assured suppliers while maintaining excellent stock levels at each branch, helping to ensure supplier lead times are kept to a minimum. This combined with our extensive inter-branch delivery network enables us to provide unparalleled service levels with competitive pricing. Maintaining excellent branch stock levels is


encouraged so reliance is not placed on drawing stock from the group, meaning our suppliers work with every Smith Brothers branch. Today sees Smith Brothers’ stockholding in excess of £30 million across 20,000+ products. We feel it is essential the business has the


knowledge and capability to support consumers on our products to help facilitate projects prior to, and post installation. That is why our customers have access to technical product managers who can offer specialist support, such as onsite or office-based training on a select range of products. In addition, all sales managers can facilitate customer training, take-offs and meet specific project requirements such as timed delivery slots.

The 2020s have brought about multiple unforeseen circumstances that have caused significant disruption to the whole world.
