A mixed bag of highlights

T

he April issue of HVR is a smorgasbord of news and features from important announcements, topical interviews,

surprising launches, essential reminders about compliance and a host of regular features. As you can see from the story on the right, the

HVR Awards have now opened for entries and with a number of new categories, we believe there is an opportunity for all HVAC firms to enter. Visit www.hvrawards.com In an interesting development, turn to page 6

to read about how air conditioning and heat pump specialist Daikin is dipping its toe into a new market with its own domestic boiler. And on pg 12, the burning issue of fire damper maintenance rears its head with a reminder about compliance requirements which in many cases are still not being met even a year after BSI issued crucial advise to building managers. You can also catch up with the latest on the battle against late payment in an interview with new BESA chief executive David Frise who has called for urgent government action on pg 14. Also in this issue are a host

of regular features on fans, heat pumps, water heating, maintenance management, and our domestic and schools supplements.

Entries are now open! E

ntries are now open for the ninth edition of the HVR Awards, giving companies from across the heating and ventilating sectors the opportunity to win a coveted ‘flame’ trophy. There are more awards up for grabs than ever

before, with the introduction of four new categories. HVAC Initiative of the Year and Ancillary Product of the Year will join the returning judged categories; Commercial/Industrial Ventilation, Heating and Air Conditioning Products of the Year, Sustainable Product of the Year, Contractor of the Year and the sought-after Lifetime Achievement Award.

The industry will have an opportunity to make

its voice heard in the new Training Initiative of the Year and Community Spirit Award categories, the winners of which will be decided by an online vote in addition to the established Customer Service Person of the Year and Wholesaler/Distributor of the Year categories.

HVR editor Heather Ramsden says: “The four new

categories reflect the changing face of the industry. We’re particularly excited about the Community Spirit Award which we’re certain will be a huge hit.” “HVAC companies are much more than just the

products and services they provide. What makes this industry so great is companies’ commitment to their communities and the charitable efforts they invest time, money and resources into – and we wanted to reward that. What really sets this award apart is that the charity or initiative supported by the winner will be the beneficiary of the annual charity collection carried out at the HVR Awards ceremony!” The full criteria for each category can be found

on the HVR Awards website along with a brand new entry form – which allows companies to enter multiple categories with just one submission. Entries will close on Friday June 29. To submit an entry, visit www.hvrawards.com. Looking ahead to the hottest event of the year The HVR Awards will return to London in October of this year.
