Industry News Editor’s Comment
Welcome to the September issue of Converter Magazine
This month, I had the pleasure of attending London Packaging Week on 11th September at the ExCel Centre. This event demonstrated innovations in the packaging industry across a number of exhibitions, including Packaging Première, PCD, PLD, and Food and Consumer Pack. I found the event to be fascinating and excellently organised; every exhibitor’s stands were beautifully constructed and displayed some of the best innovations in the industry. There was certainly a focus on sustainability, which was very positive to see. I look forward to attending this event next year! In this, our September issue, we are delving into a number of articles covering a wide range of features, including Film and Foil, Flexible Packaging, Machine Vision and Web Inspection, Slitting and Rewinding and Web Tension and Guiding. I do hope you fi nd this issue informative and, as usual, if you have any interest in contributing to a future issue of Converter, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me at

YPIP Team urges printers to throw open doors to young talent on International Print Day – October 23rd, 2024
LABCOATER
The Young People in Print team, a group of volunteers dedicated to inspiring the next generation of employees in the print industry, is supporting companies from across the UK to throw open their doors on October 23rd to welcome visits from local schools and colleges. Paul Stead, sales at ASL Group and YPIP volunteer, stated, “we’ve been running open houses with individual printers this year, helping them to attract students from local schools and colleges to visit and explore what the print industry can offer them. While this approach has been welcomed, it’s clear we need to do something on a far broader scale if we’re going to truly make an impact. International Print Day seems the logical day to say to the education and careers system in the UK that the print industry is seeking new talent, come on in and see what we have to offer!”
