Labelling Solutions
Investing in the right equipment and technology is essential
Kingfisher Labels has partnered with print technologist Edale for over 20 years. Sales director Andy Watts explains how this partnership has benefited the business and why Kingfisher’s recent purchase of a second FL1 PRIME Press is such a sound investment.
W
e’ve been investing in Edale technology since 2001. As we know from our experience with the FL3
machines and our first FL1 PRIME, staying ahead of the technological curve is crucial for companies looking to thrive in the cutting-edge labelling industry. In December 2022, we’ll be installing our second Edale FL1 PRIME Press. Here’s why that investment is such a vital cog in the future workings of Kingfisher – equal parts cost-effective, environmentally sound and innovative. We pride ourselves on partnering with customers for the long haul, building great bonds with like-minded businesses. Maintaining strong client relationships via the provision of total customer satisfaction is a must, which is a value we 100% share with Edale. In fact, the manufacturer’s strong values have always rung true with our own.
In the words of our Production Director Karl Jackson, ‘When people ask why Edale, it’s simple, really. We chose Edale because of the family feel. We are a family business and appreciate the respect Edale has for us, and we have the same respect for Edale.’
Much of our success is thanks to the trust our customers have in us. We can guarantee timely delivery of a premium product, and the FL1 PRIME is a massive part of that guarantee. Healthy customer relationships equal more investment in brand excellence – one is impossible to achieve without the other.
INNOVATIVE FEATURES
Our first FL1 PRIME has expanded and diversified our printing capabilities, and we’re thrilled that another will soon allow us to push the boat out even further. This machine is a 350mm, 6-colour capacity dream with pre-registration tools and UNiPRINT technology. Its optimal print geometry has enabled us to ensure high-quality prints every time. And, we have more precise control over colour management and can achieve rapid changeovers thanks to the machine’s inking system.
All these great features contribute to improved productivity, reliability and usability. Plus, the FL1 PRIME increases efficiency and reduces turnaround time, meeting customer needs regardless of specific requirements. Karl explains, ‘The FL1 PRIME [is] perfect for sharing tooling, and as the die stations are the same, we can interchange between our FL3s and PRIME. This has given us greater speed and operator efficiency, and we pride ourselves on our flexibility and job turnaround for our customers and can facilitate 7-10 days to delivery.’
MINIMISING WASTE
Increasingly, sustainability is becoming a focus for customers across the spectrum of sectors. The FL1 PRIME’s waste-minimising features are essential for modern businesses to adapt to new eco- friendly demands. The job storage feature allows jobs to be set on just one web length of material, so no excess is required. The ‘Slitting & Rewinding’ function removes any unnecessary edge trim and ensures the same.
This is excellent news for us and many of our customers (especially those in the craft brewing sector). It allows us to make our work more sustainable. We’re delighted that we’re able to adjust to rising standards of eco-friendliness among our customers, and we’ll be even further able to protect the environment with a second super-efficient PRIME machine in our possession.
ENABLING EXPANSION
Kingfisher has expanded significantly over the last two years, taking on a wide range of new customers. Keeping up with diverse expectations and needs is a challenge we’re happy to be rising to, and it’s a challenge that’s required the support of the FL1 PRIME. Our second investment in a PRIME machine is a key part of our ongoing strategy, allowing our expansion to continue smoothly.
As businesses change and grow, this fantastic piece of print technology from Edale is designed to offer flexibility and adaptability. In the last 12-24 months, it’s allowed us to become a leading supplier of labelling to food and beverage companies (in Bristol and further afield) and a trusted name for businesses in the healthcare industries. We anticipate even more growth in 2023, once our second FL1 PRIME press is up and running.
All productive, long-lasting businesses rely on strong connections, which is why we’re extremely proud of our history and ongoing relationship with Edale.
The creative, cost-effective and forward- thinking options presented by the FL1 PRIME press make it a wonderful choice for any business in the labelling industry. And it’s the choice we’ve made over at Kingfisher Labels.
