Cutting Systems
Laser precision - cutting systems for films, textiles and more
eurolaser presented new technologies for further processing in the printing and converting industry
P
recise, automated and consistently high cutting quality; by meeting these requirements, the laser cutting systems from the German manufacturer,
eurolaser, have been scoring points with users worldwide for many years. The application portfolio has now been expanded with two new developments and off ers customers from the printing and converting industry in particular even more processing options.
At FESPA, eurolaser presented a new camera system for the effi cient and precise processing of printed materials. The new technology increases process speed and expands processing possibilities. Automation was also the driving force behind the development of the new twin table system with permanent vacuum. This innovative solution was developed to fulfi l special requirements in the processing of adhesive fi lms, but also for other applications, and sets new standards in terms of effi ciency and precision. Since its foundation in 1994, eurolaser has specialised in cutting non-metallic materials. These include plastics such as polyester or acrylic, wood and MDF, textiles and composites as well as many other materials. Today, the universal cutting systems are used, among other things, for cutting large-format textiles in the soft signage sector, for technical control elements made of plastic fi lms, printed acrylic displays for shop fi tting or technical adhesive fi lms in the automotive industry. In particular, the demand for large processing areas and automation solutions is increasing across all industries. With the new, optional camera system called POSITIONplus professional, eurolaser picks up on this trend and off ers exciting competitive advantages especially for processors in the printing industry.
SMART CUTTING OF PRINTED MATERIAL Many applications require precise cutting to existing registration marks or other material references. For this purpose, eurolaser off ers a smart solution consisting of a camera and evaluation software. Using reference points, the optical recognition system allows printed
materials to be cut out precisely along the print contour. The new camera technology considerably reduces the time needed to read in the fi ducial marks. The entire working area is quickly captured via area scan, thus optimising the process time. In addition, this process expands the range of possible applications. For example, contours on materials can be detected, whereupon suitable cutting data is created under software control. Pattern matching is also possible. Material patterns are detected so that the positioning of the cutting data is done taking the pattern into account. Useful functions that save time and money in further processing.
OPTIMUM PRECISION DUE TO PERMANENT VACUUM
The Twin Table System with permanent vacuum enables a considerable increase in the utilisation and profi tability of the eurolaser systems. The permanent vacuum under the material ensures optimum cutting results and maximum precision. It also guarantees that the material remains fi xed during downstream process steps, for example when applying a carrier material to the adhesive material. Furthermore, the system off ers permanent extraction of cutting emissions and prevents the build-up of dirt on the material, ensuring clean surfaces.
The movable material carriers enable continuous loading and unloading during the machining process and increase the accessibility of the already machined workpieces during removal. While on one material carrier, material is being cut, the other side can already be reloaded. Thanks to the open system, robot loading is also possible in 24/7 operation. An automatic table change after laser cutting is also integrated. The two material carriers can be used individually or coupled, which enables the processing of large-surface materials.
EFFICIENT AND FLEXIBLE
The principle is simple; the material carriers are changed within a few seconds, the laser process can continue without downtime and the investment in the new system pays for itself within a very short time.
The Twin Table System is available in various versions, including manual, semi-manual and fully automatic for seamless integration into diff erent manufacturing processes. It can be used in conjunction with the eurolaser base system, XL-1600. The new system is now being demonstrated live at the eurolaser application centre in Lüneburg.
