for Colombier UK conversion Colombier UK commissioned its narrow web rewinding and coiling business less than a year ago and already it has taken the next step investing in new equipment to support its growing customer base.


F


ollowing its successful installation and commissioning 10 months ago, Colombier UK has further streamlined its narrow web rewinding and coiling business with the addition of a new Lantech pallet wrapping line, and Elite Cameron fully automatic core cutter.


Since its integration into the company’s Sittingbourne conversion facility, the new narrow web rewinder/coiler has surpassed initial production targets and continued to generate more business even during the difficult economic periods brought upon by the pandemic and constant price increases in the paper and packaging industry. “Our narrow web rewinder/coiler has far exceeded its initial KPI targets for 2022,” said assistant managing director Ryan Langworthy. “After an initial Q1 production review it was found in some instances the machine was achieving a 25% increase in


productivity throughput per hour against budgeted levels.”


WEB DIVIDING / REEL RESIZING Colombier has long established itself as a market leader in web dividing and reel resizing, using its patented plunge cutter and mobile resizer. With the ability to convert any substrate of material from packaging grades to graphic white or bespoke specialty papers, Colombier UK can reduce the width of a reel without unwinding it thus retaining guaranteed mill tensions, and in most circumstances, achieving a better reel end finish than originally received. The mobile reel divider (MRD) is able to remove all forms of damage from a reel end such as water/flood damage (no matter how blown or water soaked), embedded debris, partially crushed cores, end scuffs, or simply changing the width of redundant stock to a
