nique to the Colombier Group of companies, the Mobile Reel Divider (MRD) is at the forefront of innovation with its ability to produce multiple reels out of a parent reel without the need to rewind. With its patented technology, the MRD is able to cut all types of substrate from graphic white, brown packaging through to specialist materials such as metallised paper and high value products.


Able to cut any GSM of material, the MRD can skim as little as 1mm off the top of dirty ended reels or slice a whole reel in half producing multiple reels out. With trim allowance, the


MRD can produce as many multiples out as the parent reel allows, all without rewinding, thus guaranteeing original Mill tension and ensuring an end fi nish sometimes better than new. Assistant managing director Ryan Langworthy said: “The MRD is unique to the Colombier Group of companies, with us operating four units across Europe. Combined with our mobile reel resizers (MRS) the MRD off ers our customers a one -stop solution to a magnitude of scenarios.” “One of the main benefi ts of the MRD is its ability to cut wet reels – saving the customer sometimes thousands of pounds in waste material costs. The MRD can deal with a few


water spots maybe caused by dripping canopies, or reels caught in a rain shower during loading/ unloading, by skimming as little as 1mm from the end of the reel, removing all wet damage, and leaving a pristine reel edge still within tolerance.” However, Mr Langworthy believes the machine really comes into its own for flood damage stock stating “The MRD is able to plunge into a wet reel no matter how sodden it is. Even if the whole end of the reel is blown and has soaked up so much water its started to delaminate, the MRD can simply cut off the wet portion of the reel to a customer determined usable size, and leave a finished
