R
oland DG Corporation is pleased to announce that they will collaborate with Roland Corporation in the production of original limited-edition items and store decorations for the “808 DAY at Roland Store Tokyo” event from August 8 (Thu.) to 31 (Sat.), 2024. The TR-808, the world’s fi rst rhythm machine capable of easily creating a rhythm for a single song, is one of the company’s most popular products. The unique sound produced by the TR-808 has had a profound impact on the creation of hip-hop, dance music and contemporary pop music and now, more than 40 years after its introduction, the TR-808 remains a deeply-rooted favourite tool.
The “808 DAY at Roland Store Tokyo” collaboration will be held as a celebration event for the TR-808.
During the event, the actual TR-808, which is rarely seen, will be on display. In addition, a variety of 808-related goods, printed by Roland’s inkjet printers, will be distributed exclusively at the event. “Roland Store Tokyo opened last October as a
fl agship store where customers can experience the fun and excitement of creating music and the world of the Roland brand,” said Satofumi Hashimoto of Roland’s Retail Offi ce, which is hosting the event. The store is decorated with lighting and images like a live stage and the latest music-related equipment, including electronic musical instruments, are all on display. The resident product specialists will provide detailed explanations of their functions and how to use them.
Mr. Hashimoto continued, “We hope that this event will convey the appeal of the TR-808, which has been loved by many fans since its release, not only to fans from that time, but also to the younger generation who have never played with the TR-808 before. For this reason, in addition to the product exhibition, we want to provide a fun and unforgettable special experience by adding special off ers and performances with the cooperation of Roland DG Corporation.”
Taichi Nakamura of the Marketing Unit, Global Sales & Marketing Division of Roland DG Corporation, who is in charge of this collaboration, said, “’Inspire the Enjoyment of Creativity’ is one of the slogans that both Roland and our company hold dear. For this event, we cooperated in the production of various goods and store decorations utilizing our products. For four days only, from August 8 (Thu.) to 11 (Sun.), we will also bring our UV printer into the store to print customers’ names on Music keychains, one of the limited-edition items available. We believe that the combination of Roland’s music and our on-demand printing technology will provide a more creative and exciting experience.”
