2. INCREASING EFFICIENCY Zero-defects production is the Holy Grail for all packaging manufacturers, and to achieve this, many rely on quality control technologies such as vision sensors and camera detection mechanisms integrated into the manufacturing line. These can track and adjust adhesive application in real time using UV-detection systems. However, problems can arise when using recycled boards that can contain higher levels optical brighteners used to make boards appear white. The brighteners and adhesives with a blue UV indicator, fluoresce under the same wavelength UV light, which significantly impacts the efficiency of the adhesive detection system. As a solution, detection system manufacturers introduced systems that work on the yellow/green UV wavelength. H.B. Fuller matched this change by introducing innovative UV light fluorescing adhesives, creating a range that can perform under blue or yellow-green UV wavelengths. This helps manufacturers to achieve exact adhesive placement and reduce downtime due to inaccuracy.
