e all rely hugely on our fridges, washing machines and microwaves to keep our busy lives on track, but would

the manufacturers of your customers’ appliances know which machines they have and where to fi nd your client if a fault came to light with an older model bought years previously? The answer is ‘no’ for some 100 million appliances, according to recent

research. But this could all be remedied by people taking a few minutes to register their much-loved older appliances.

Enhance your customer service When your customers are buying a new appliance from you, remind them to register it for the extra safety and peace of mind registration brings. You would be boosting your client relationship if you also encouraged them to look around their homes to register older appliances they may have bought elsewhere. Manufacturers, fi re services and safety campaigners all urge the public to

register their many treasured appliances that, unlike our cars, are still off the radar in case a free safety repair is needed. The recent increase in smart appliances will help improve traceability but, according to UK government estimates, we now run more than 212 million essential appliances to cook, wash clothes and dishes, clean fl oors and store our food. Offi cial research also found nearly half of us have never registered a product, suggesting some 100 million large and mid-sized older machines are untraceable.

Registration is easy for new and older appliances Maintenance and registration of machines becomes more important as we all aim to keep our appliances running effi ciently for as long as

possible. That goes for all kinds of appliances - whether we found them in our homes when we moved in, inherited them from family or simply installed and forgot about them. Registration can be done easily at registermyappliance.org.uk without a receipt or knowing the exact date of purchase. It will take your customer a matter of moments and can bring comfort in the knowledge they are doing their utmost to keep their homes and families safe.
