Haier Europe demonstrates its growth and future ambitions at 1 Vision Conference

aier Europe’s chief executive for the UK and Ireland, David Meyerowitz,
opened the company’s annual 1 Vision conference in the iconic Rum Warehouse in Liverpool recently.
Stating that Liverpool held a special place for the company he outlined some of the city’s fi rsts in terms of sport and music and highlighted Candy’s iconic sponsorship of the Liverpool football team. He added that Liverpool is twinned with Shanghai along with four other Chinese cities. “Qingdao is the global base for Haier smart home,” he said. “It is innovative just like Liverpool is, so this is the perfect place for us to meet.” The theme for the conference this year was
dream, believe, achieve. Mr Meyerowitz said: “Haier is the enabler of
dreams. We are the world’s favourite domestic appliance manufacturer.”
Currys and Samsung unveil trade-in initiative

urrys and Samsung UK have teamed up to off er customers unique discounts
on selected Samsung products when they trade-in any unwanted tech with the retailer. The promotional event means Currys
customers can get between 10-15% off on over 390 Samsung products when they trade-in any old electrical item this July. The event encompasses great savings across
17 diff erent product categories – from to American-style fridge-freezers to smartphones. To unlock these savings, all customers have to do is take any unwanted electrical items that
are powered by a battery or a mains electricity supply – regardless of their age, condition or value – to their nearest Currys store, where they will be exchanged for a Samsung discount code (in addition to, where appropriate, the item’s trade-in value). Ed Connolly, chief commercial offi cer at
Currys, said: “By working together with Samsung, we have been able to pass on great savings to customers, whilst also encouraging more sustainable behaviours.”

FLYING HIGH AT THE SIRIUS 2023 UK CONFERENCE
Sirius Buying Group said business is fl ying following the success of its 2023 UK conference, as the group’s approved suppliers and members come together to improve their respective business models and future development plans. The annual conference took place at the Concorde Conference Centre in Manchester.

He stated that the company’s growth has been phenomenal. It now has 170 factories, selling to 160 countries, with one billion customers, 100,000 employees, 4,000 micro-enterprises and 140,000 retail partners. “We dream big with confi dence,” he added. He said the company is now the number one in washers and washer dryers with fast growth occurring in the cooling market. “By 2025, 100% of our sales will be connected appliances,” he said, “and they will focus on the ‘ultimate user experience’.” Yannick Fierling, chief executive of Haier Europe, said the company now has a market share of 17% worldwide with a global turnover of €32 billion (£27.4bn). Mr Fierling said: “We want to extend the life of appliances and we will do this by adding new versions of software through our app. Energy effi ciency is important for us and being able to tell the customer when the cheapest time is to run an appliance effi ciently, is important.”
