IER Awards 2019
Celebrating the best and brightest in electrical retail
The longest running and most prestigious awards in the industry are on the horizon, so have your say on who the winners should be at the IER Awards 2019
T
he biggest event in the electrical retailing industry calendar returns on April 11, 2019.
The Innovative Electrical Retailing Awards 2019 will be the 27th iteration of the longest running awards event in the industry. A lot has changed since the first edition back in 1993. In fact, a lot has changed just in the past 12 months, as this industry continues to strive for innovation and respond to a ceaselessly shifting consumer landscape. Among the headlines of major retail chains struggling and consumers abandoning the high street, there is still plenty of investment from businesses in this sector which refuse to fall behind the times. The wider economic picture has certainly added pressures for everyone in retail, but it is in challenging times that the importance of investing, innovating and re-invigorating your business becomes all the more essential. That is why it is so heartening to be part of the IER Awards. They provide a chance for retailers to shout about all the elements which make them stand out, from their online offering
to in-store displays and showrooms, their best Young Guns to their customer service. Customer service is of course still such an
important part of the independent retailer’s point of difference. As many consumers now divide their attention across different retail streams, it is key that the service they experience across all elements of your business is to the same exceptional standard. It is fantastic to see so many people striving
to improve, and not just survive, but thrive. The industry’s commitment to improving standards, customer service and product innovation will stand it in good stead for many years to come. The judging panel for the IER Awards 2019 met in November to discuss the retailer and manufacturer entries. The standard was extremely high, delivering yet more evidence that there are plenty in the industry who are doing wonderful and progressive things. With the retailer categories determined by the strength of the entries and discussed at great length by the panel of expert judges, it now comes to you, the readers of IER, to give your input on the supplier categories.
The following pages contain the shortlisted
entries in the manufacturer categories for the IER Awards 2019. Uniquely, the IER Awards allow you, the industry, to have your say too. To cast your vote for the products, trainers, distributors and companies that you feel are most deserving, either complete and return the voting form on page 42, or head to www.
ierawards.co.uk/vote. As an added incentive, we have some fantastic
prizes to give away. When voting closes on January 31, all those who voted will be entered into the prize draw, with some excellent prizes kindly donated by EPE International up for grabs. More details on the prizes are available on page 36 of this issue. Best of luck! The IER Awards will be heading to the Park
Plaza Victoria, London, on April 11, providing the perfect environment to entertain key business contacts, reward valued staff, and provide a great occasion in the company of some of the industry’s biggest names. With an exclusive drinks reception, sumptuous three course meal, entertainment, and, of course, the chance to win one of the most illustrious titles in the industry, the event is not to be missed.
