Scolmore has expanded its wiring accessories range to include 13A 2-gang socket outlets with integrated Type A and Type C USB charging ports, to give the range broader functionality and cover charging options for the widest possible range of devices that now use different sized ports. Used independently, the Type C USB has
a charging output of 5V DC, 3A, while the Type A USB has a charging output of 5V DC, 2.4A (independent charge). When both USB ports are in use, the 4.2A charge is shared, with Type C given priority to output its full 3A, with Type A reduced to an output of 1.2A. The charging ports have a new location - moved from above each independent socket outlet to a
central position above one another, allowing the rocker switches to be moved to an ‘outboard position.’ Type C USB is the connector of the future. Already available on a number of devices, it is likely to
eventually replace USB Types A, B and Micro USB on all new products and systems. Smaller and thinner than its predecessors, Type C USB is reversible and can be plugged in either way with no risk of damage.

Hammond IP66 stainless steel industrial
enclosures The IP66 EJSS family from Hammond Electronics is available in 304 or 316 grade stainless steel, supplied as standard in a natural smooth brushed finish. Sealed to IP66, the EJSS is designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, electrical junction box or terminal wiring enclosure. The EJSS family is available in 22 sizes,
ranging from 102 x 102 x 76mm to 406 x 356 x 254mm. All but the two smallest sizes are supplied complete with a 1.6mm thick internal unpainted galvanised steel panel. The EJSS meets IEC 60529 IP66 for European and CE, UL and NEMA 3R, 4, 4X, 12, and 13 requirements for North American markets. The body and cover are formed from 1.3mm stainless steel with smooth, continuously welded seams without knock outs, cut outs, or holes. Integral heavy-duty full width top and bottom brackets facilitate mounting the enclosure to an external surface. The cover, mounted on a heavy-duty continuous hinge, opens through 180° for good access; a quarter turn latch prevents casual unauthorised access by requiring a tool for operation. A bonding stud is provided on the door and a grounding stud is fitted to the enclosure.

The Meridian Fire Rated Downlight range is getting a whole new suite of products over the next few months and starting with fittings for GU10 lamps. The existing range of both IP65 fixed downlights plus IP20 fixed and adjustable fittings are retained, but made more contractor friendly with the addition of new Quick Fix tool-less connectors. Suitable for both halogen and LED lamps, these downlights are fitted with twist and lock retention rings. Adding to this range are brand new Open Body fittings designed to deliver improved performance. The Quick Fix loop in/loop out terminal block simplifies installation whilst the range features ultra-thin bezels and is designed for LED lamps only.
Quality and safety are fundamental to all these ranges which are available in white, chrome and satin chrome finishes. Built with all steel bodies and resistant to 30, 60 and 90 minute tests, Meridian FRDs are approved to BS476 pt21 Standards.
