Coming full circle W

ithout any particular intent, this issue has become something of a circular economy special. ESG remains the word (acronym?) on everybody’s lips, and brands and manufacturers are keen to share their thoughts on what they - and the rest of the industry - are doing to become more green, and what they could be doing better.

On page 32, for example, you can read about Recolight’s recent ground-breaking event Circular Lighting Live. Suppliers have an important role to play in the design of sustainable light fi ttings, and it is encouraging to hear that increasingly they are using recyclable - and in some cases recycled - materials, as well as using shorter supply chains to reduce transport carbon and introducing end-of-life take back. On page 14, meanwhile, Ansell Lighting’s Richard Kemp examines what measures manufacturers are taking to prioritise a circular economy at the heart of an industry which thrives on innovation.

The team here at EW was delighted to host the annual EW Awards at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London last month. It was our fi rst live event after a few years of virtual celebrations, and it was truly lovely to see the industry gathered to celebrate excellence and innovation among their peers. You can see the winners at electricalwholesalerawards.co.uk, and our full write up from the event with photos will be in the December issue of the magazine.

Plus, as always, our usual news, views, products and installations from market-leading businesses across the sector, including a great piece from Natasha King at Vent-Axia, looking at how we can improve indoor air quality without compromising on noise levels.
