Switchtec’s new plastic switched sockets and spur outlets
Switchtec has expanded its well-established SCL RCD switched socket and spur outlet range with the introduction of a new plastic-clad option.
T
he new plastic-clad option complements the existing and popular metal-clad versions already widely specified for commercial and industrial installations. The extended range gives
installers, OEMs and specifiers greater choice of finish and installation suitability, while maintaining the same focus on point-of-use safety and robust performance. The range includes single and double RCD switched socket outlets, along with RCD switched spur outlets, all rated at 13Amps, 240VAC. Protection is provided by an integrated Type A RCD with a 30mA trip rating and a 40ms trip speed, delivering effective additional protection at the point of
use while maintaining the benefit of local switched isolation. Each unit includes integral test and reset functionality, supporting straight forward commissioning and routine safety checks as part of planned maintenance.
Now available in both metal- clad and plastic variants, the range supports flexible specification across a wide variety of applications. The metal-clad versions are supplied complete with a metal surface mount back box, featuring multiple M20 knockouts to simplify installation and accommodate different cable entry requirements. The products also support a cable capacity of up to 3 x 2.5mm², helping installers manage wiring neatly and efficiently on site. Designed with compliance in
mind, the SCL RCD switched sockets and spur outlets conform to BS 7288:2016 and BS 1363, and are UKCA and CE approved, providing specifiers with confidence for use
across commercial, industrial, facilities and maintenance environments.
