Electrical Safety First will tackle regulation and emerging technologies at its annual Electrical Product Safety Conference.
onsumer safety charity Electrical Safety First is pleased to announce that its annual Electrical Product Safety Conference will be taking place on Thursday 26 November 2026, at Church House, Westminster, London. Now in its 18th year, the
conference brings together leading experts and industry fi gures to explore the most pressing challenges in electrical product safety, share insight, and identify practical solutions.
The theme for this year’s conference, ‘Regulation, Responsibility, Risk’, will provide practical insights on policy, compliance and enforcement. This will include the evolving legislative
landscape and how the Product Regulation and Metrology Act might impact this.
The conference will also examine how emerging technologies are transforming product safety from design through to real-world use, as well as the safety challenges linked to a more circular economy as products are reused and repaired. Attendees will benefi t from a full day of expert-led sessions, with leading voices from across the product safety landscape sharing insight, best practice and emerging thinking.

Entries open for Safety Innovation Award 2026
Celebrating pioneering ideas that help protect consumers from electrical hazards, entries are now open for Electrical Safety First’s Safety Innovation Award 2026.
T
he annual award recognises innovative projects and products designed to improve electrical safety in homes and communities.
Entries are open to both individuals and organisations, and submissions can be at any stage of development. The award is free to enter and off ers a valuable platform for innovators to showcase their ideas to key industry audiences, including retailers, manufacturers, distributors, policymakers and the public. Previous winners include:
• Flair Solutions ‘E:BAG’: a specialist bag designed to contain and extinguish fi res caused by lithium-ion batteries.
• SafeBatt Project: which provides crucial contributions to lithium-ion battery safety. • HobSensus: a safety device that turns kitchen hobs off when left unattended. • Connected Innovations: sockets that detect heat build-up in the plugs and nearby wiring and turn the appliance off , stopping the fi re risk before it starts.
• E-bulb: the world’s smallest fi re extinguisher, designed to prevent fi res from spreading and reigniting.

The winner will be announced at Electrical Safety First’s annual Electrical Product Safety Conference on Thursday 26 November, where they will have the opportunity to present their innovation to a wide audience, spanning government bodies, infl uential industry fi gures and more. Shortlisted fi nalists will also be showcased at the event.
