our months aſter Darren Staniforth took up the newly created role of head of technical engagement, Scolmore has expanded its team with the appointment of
Jake Green as technical engagement engineer. Jake has worked in the electrical industry since leaving school 12 years ago. After completing a
full apprenticeship course with the NICEIC training academy at Bedford College, he started his apprenticeship with a small company in Huntingdon carrying out energy saving installations and agricultural installations. This was followed by a role within the electrical maintenance department of a chain of restaurants, before he took up the position of regional manager with facilities management responsibilities for a number of blue chip companies. Jake joins Scolmore from Certsure (NICEIC/ELECSA), where he worked alongside Darren in a number of roles covering technical training and presenting, and this is when he became a familiar face to many contractors. Together with Darren, Jake will be responsible for engaging with professional contractors and
electricians to advise and educate them on the right solutions and products to meet the ever changing regulations and technical requirements of the industry. He will also have a key role to play in developing and presenting training content across Scolmore’s social media channels, including the SGTV YouTube channel.
LIA’s new safety certification scheme T
he LIA’s new Safety Certification Scheme (LIASC) was created aſter the LIA Compliance
team identified a requirement of certification based solely around product safety. The LIASC Certificate, the LIASC and the LIASC+ Schemes, which are easily accessible and affordable, have been launched to meet these requirements. Fox Lux Emergency Lighting.has become the first company to achieve
the certification, with its ‘FXS Microwave Motion Sensor’ undergoing vigorous Safety Testing to the relevant standards. Fox Lux then submitted the required quality information and passed the evaluations to successfully obtain the LIASC Certified Status. The ‘FXS Microwave Motion Sensor range’
is now listed on the Product Conformity Scheme LIASC register and can showcase its dedicated LIASC Logo. Simon Fox, managing director of Fox Lux
Emergency Lighting commented: “The scheme provides an opportunity to have products, the manufacturing facility and supporting
documentation, independently assessed with ongoing surveillance to ensure continuous compliance. We fully support the LIA in its quest to improve product compliance and awareness in the market, and will be submitting more controls and luminaires for assessment under the LIA and ICEL Certification schemes.”
