he Electrical Industries Charity (EIC), has announced that a team of three
trekkers are back from the year’s biggest challenge – the Great Wall of China 2018. In September, Mark Doré of Edmundson
Electrical, Monika Gaubyte of Keystone Communications, and Jess Vailima of the EIC embarked on a 10-day journey of a lifetime to one of the Seven Wonders of the World in order to raise money for Caz Dickinson and her family. The team began in Huyangyaguan, tackling

lectrical contractors are now able to access Rexel products on the move by using the company’s new app. Rexel, a leading electrical distributor, aims to make its customers’
lives that much easier by offering its entire catalogue of products, as available in its webshop, on an app which has been optimised for use on handheld devices. The app features a previously unavailable functionality which allows users to scan the barcodes of products they intend to restock, then re-order them via their account, streamlining the purchasing process. Existing customers with a Rexel trade account who order their
products before 12 noon, and are located within certain postcodes, will be eligible for same day delivery – a perk that Rexel launched earlier in the year. Additionally, new customers will be able to register online for a
Rexel trade account via the new app and Rexel webshop, where they will only need to wait 10 seconds to receive a decision concerning their eligibility. With an account, customers can save their shopping lists as ‘job
lists’, grouping specific products and requirements for easy reference the next time around or similar jobs. Rexel has also improved its stock visibility, meaning customers can more easily order the quantities they need online to a local branch or for delivery. The Rexel app is available to download on the App Store or

steps and trekked an incredible 107 kilometres to show their support for the Dickinson family. The Challenge for a Cause campaign has so far raised £161,881 out of the initial £250,000 target. Mark Doré of Edmundson Electrical, said: “We met up as 14 strangers, shared amazing experiences, laughed our way through the hard times and came back the closest of friends with memories to savour for the rest of our lives.”
Devondale 18th Edition seminars well attended

“We feel it’s important to keep our customers up to date and to make sure they’re 18th Edition-ready. “We were surprised by how many came to the seminars and pleased to be able to offer so many of our customers the opportunity to find out more and ask any questions they had.” The seminars were held across the company’s branch network with over 50 customers attending the Taunton event and more than 70 in Exeter.
Electric heating key to clean growth T
he success of the Government’s Green GB Week should be used as a catalyst to further promote the potential of
modern electric heating systems, says manufacturer Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation. Shaun Hurworth from Glen Dimplex Heating & Ventilation, which includes the Dimplex, Xpelair, Redring and Creda brands, said: “The Government launched Green GB Week with the intention of highlighting the opportunities that clean growth offers the United Kingdom, and raising understanding of how businesses, entrepreneurs and the public can contribute to tackling climate change. And one thing is clear; electric heating is key to this long-term strategy. “Data from the new SAP 10 methodology, which is the Government's
recommended system for measuring the energy rating of dwellings, shows that the carbon factor of electric heating is now just 0.233 gCO2/kWh – down from 0.519 gCO2/kWh when SAP 2012 was

introduced. This is thanks to continued investment in renewable generation technologies, which continues the transformation of our electricity grid into a carbon efficient energy network. “It means heat pumps and installed electric heating appliances will
perform even better in SAP 10, offering a potentially cheaper, compliant HVAC solution when compared to other fuels such as gas. In SAP 2012, electric panel heaters combined with an electric hot water heat pump was an already attractive solution when gaining compliance. This will only increase under the new methodology. “Green GB Week has been a big success with a wide range of events highlighting the need to curb climate change, as well as the solutions already in place that can help to do that. Now the heating industry must continue that momentum to showcase the potential of modern electric heating solutions, working towards achieving the Government’s target of electrification in order to reduce the significant carbon impact of heating and cooling our buildings.”
