A warm welcome and happy holidays! I
t’s all change at Electrical Wholesaler this month, and so if we haven’t already been introduced via email or a chat on the phone, then hello! Hopefully I’ll be able to meet lots of you soon, but in the meantime please feel free to drop me an email at
hhart@datateam.co.uk. It’s an exciting time to be stepping into the
electrical wholesaling industry, both as an editor and a woman, and I’m incredibly encouraged by the recent 2018 SELECT Awards, where not only was the Electrical Distributors’ Association (Scottish Section) Wholesaler Apprentice of the Year award, introduced just last year, won by Stephanie Thomson, but also boasted three other female finalists. Congratulations, Stephanie! In this month’s issue, Wylex walks us through the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations [p17], Crabtree showcases their Instinct range of wiring accessories [p20], and Timeguard explains how ‘tis the season for DALI [p23]. Scolmore takes a look at what makes an industry app a valuable tool in its own right [p26], and Sangamo rounds off the year, reflecting on its acquisition and expanded accessibility [p29].

Additionally, don’t miss our EW Awards update on page 31. Entries for 2019 are now open, and you have until January 14th to cast your vote. We’ve introduced a number of new categories for our sixth edition, reflecting the changing face of the industry, so there’s really never been a better time to get involved. If that doesn’t convince you, then a look through our 2018 gallery (at
electricalwholesalerawards.co.uk) surely will. Finally, I’d like to say a massive thank you (diolch in my native Welsh) to Debbie for her years of service to Electrical Wholesaler magazine and support over the past few weeks. She’ll certainly be missed, but I’m certain I speak for all our readers when I wish her the happiest of retirements. So, enjoy this month’s issue - I can’t wait to see what the upcoming editions will bring!
