Amy Lister named JTL National Apprentice of the Year 2023

TL, a leading apprenticeship provider in the building services engineering sector in England and Wales has named Malvern-based Amy Lister, an apprentice at Goodridge Electrical, as the winner of its National Apprentice of the Year Award for 2023.
After being crowned a Regional Electrical Award winner for her academic and practical progress at JTL’s Regional Awards earlier this year, Amy went on to compete against eleven other regional award winners for the National Apprentice of the Year Award at JTL’s annual awards ceremony. As the recipient of JTL’s Apprentice of the Year Award, Amy was presented with an engraved glass trophy and £1000 cheque. The purpose of JTL’s National Awards is to recognise its highest achieving apprentices in the building services engineering sector and to celebrate their success.

Candidates – who are all recently qualifi ed – are nominated based on their outstanding performance throughout the four years of their training.
The award scheme sees each fi nalist assessed against four key elements which make up the apprenticeship framework – their practical work onsite, theoretical knowledge, key skills and industrial test scores.

Trustees.Samantha McFall, CEO of ANEW, and Marcus Lee, CFO of Rexel, UK and Ireland will bring extensive experience, knowledge, and passion to the charity.
Samantha McFall has worked in the electrical wholesaler industry for over 18 years. As the CEO of ANEW, the largest independent electrical wholesale group in the UK, her unique perspective and knowledge will aid EIC’s mission to support those in need within the electrical and energy industries.

The SPARKS Female Skills Competition, sponsored by Megger and other organisations in the electrical sector, showcased an exceptional level of talent and dedication among all participants, according to the judges. Megger’s Carola Argiro said: “As a woman in an industry that still faces a gender representation gap, we are proud to support the Sparks competition and recognise the skills, enthusiasm and confi dence of these talented women. Female electricians are an important part to shaping the future of our industry.”
SPARKS launched the Female Skills competition for female electrical learners in response to statistics that show a mere 1% of workers in the construction industry are female, with an increase of only 0.7% over the past decade.

His extensive knowledge of the industry and business acumen will be an asset to the EIC board of trustees.
