Company Update
The next generation
Univolt has thrived over the past three years, with its resilience and strength as a business highlighted through the challenges brought by Covid-19. Demand for its cable containment range has seen considerable growth during 2022, a trend the company expects to build upon in the year ahead.
S
teve Davis, head of UK sales and marketing at Univolt, describes the Univolt journey in recent years and why more and more wholesalers are choosing to work with the company, whilst more contractors and specifi ers are opting for Univolt as their number one choice. As the only UK supplier of PVC LSF as a standard product, supported by a comprehensive range of specialist cable management products, Univolt is now fi rmly embedded in the country’s wholesaler industry, with whom it enjoys many strong partnerships.
Covid was incredibly diffi cult for everyone, including ourselves. During this time, however, we were really able to demonstrate our strength as a business and call upon our three manufacturing facilities to support us, whilst being agile and innovative in our approach, and ultimately keeping the stock streams fl owing. The last three years have seen incredible growth and we are working

with more independent and national wholesalers throughout the UK.
We want to be perceived and recognised as
diff erent for the right reasons, and our commitment to providing a PVC Lower Smoke & Fume (LSF) product as standard has undoubtedly set us apart within our industry. The inclusion of these enhanced additives reduces the levels of smoke by 65% in the fi rst fi ve minutes of a fi re – a factor which could have life-saving benefi ts in the event. When we designed this product, we wanted to ultimately off er the same product, with the benefi ts it off ers, for the same cost – and we did! The question we ask our partners and end users is, why would you not choose this?
PVC LSF is really gathering momentum in the UK. Overseas, our LSFOH specifi cation – which gives ultimate protection through its Zero Halogen (OH) additives, is also making huge waves. A partnership with distributors in Australia has seen us supply vast quantities of LSFOH to electrical contractors across
the country who are involved in the Australian Metro upgrade programme. Our electrical wholesaler partner, Conduit Connection, is seeing such demand that they recently opened a second site in Melbourne.
The shift towards a safer specifi cation is already underway through PVC LSF and we are the only manufacturer to off er this unique product along with our LSFOH HFT. A further step towards LSFOH will inevitably transpire in the coming years, however, we recognise the nature of the industry, and change must come through the relevant standard bodies and legislation.
Back in the UK, more and more wholesalers are keen to stock our full product range which includes bench trunking, power poles, maxi and mini trunking, three compartment dado and PVC tray. We also supply cavity wall boxes and plates, twin wall ducting and fl exible conduit, including contractor packs.
What we are ultimately delivering is a one stop
