Univolt trunking range sets new standard

Dietzel Univolt, a global leader in the development and manufacture of cable management solutions, has earnt increasing recognition for its PVC-LSF Lower Smoke Fume products during the past 18 months. This month sees the launch of a brand new trunking system, SLXL, marking the next generation in PVC cable management solutions. Steve Davisof Univolt explains more.

The wholesaler is keen to offer as much choice as possible to today’s installer whose requirements are based around speed of installation with the latest product features to distribute advanced data cabling through differing environments. To allow for a quick and simple installation, the trunking system is

available with a full range of fittings and accessories including the newly designed two-piece adjustable bends to accommodate installations where 90 degree corners are un-obtainable. The internal and external angles also maintain the necessary bend radius to comply with British, European and international standards. The SLXL system is also available with a light grey lid to comply with the building regulations as a result of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Visibility and interest in PVC-LSF and LSFOH products is intensifying.

Contractors and end users are looking for viable solutions that meet robust and stringent health and safety criteria. PVC-LSF is undoubtedly

e recognised the need to introduce this latest generation of cable management systems in response to the needs of our electrical wholesaler customers.

SLXL 65/210 PVC-LSF is 65mm deep x 210mm high x 3m length and includes three compartments and will cater for Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Cat8 and OM3 Fibre Optic cables. SLXL PVC-LSF offers a higher ignition point of up to 15% than standard PVC, the halogens it contains are released at a slower rate therefore smoke release is also reduced by up to 65% in the first 4 minutes of a fire than that of standard PVC dado trunkings. Minimum bend radius of 70mm, therefore meets and exceeds all relevant standards The product is impact resistant and non-flame propagating and can withstand temperatures of -25°C/+60°C. SLXL PVC-LSF comes with a complete range of accessories including internal and external adjustable angles, moulded flat tee and flat angle with integral couplers, mini- trunking/conduit adaptor, end cap, cable retainer and 1g and 2g boxes adjustable from 30mm to 50mm depth (for deeper RJ45 connectors).

a step up from a standard PVC specification, whilst LSFOH offers the ultimate protection in the event of a fire. LSFOH, Low Smoke & Fume Zero Halogen conduits are not only

characterised by the fire- retardant performance but also by the halogen-free properties, thus offering low corrosive and toxic emissions. During a fire, LSFOH conduits will emit less smoke and acid gases, 90% less smoke and zero halogens which may affect human health and damage expensive communications equipment. Low Smoke Fume Zero Halogen must undergo rigorous investment

and testing in order to produce the ultimate chlorine free, halogen-free, flame retardant, temperature resistant and 100 % recyclable product. If the product meets these standards, they will ultimately tick every box in terms of sustainability. Safety has and continues to be the most pressing element when

approaching any electrical installation. Key factors to consider encompass building type and fabric, installation methods applied and the product specified. Ensuring the correct solution is selected to suit the application forms a key element of this process. We believe in being proactive rather than being reactive, and see

ourselves as trailblazers in a very busy and competitive marketplace. We recognise that the wholesaler/manufacturer relationship needs to
