Springtime W
elcome to the April issue of Electrical Wholesaler.
As the days get longer and we head steadily
into spring, it feels as though there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. The world is opening back up, and hopefully we’re looking at an end to the supply chain disruption and economic shock that the past 12 months have wrought. While I know the industry will continue to feel the effects of COVID-19 into 2021, the pandemic is what’s known as a ’black swan’ event - that is, not related to any ongoing or fundamental weaknesses in the market or the global economy. With the normalisation of smart home technology and wholesalers embracing digitalisation, the long term outlook for the sector feels positive. On the cover this month we’ve got Timeguard,
sharing details of the new additions to its BoostMaster family of digital count-down timers - a timely release given growing concerns over energy wastage (10). On page 24, meanwhile, Scolmore’s Marie Parry looks at how the spread of wireless and
app based technologies is driving the rapidly growing home automation market, with modular and self-install options substantially reducing costs and making systems affordable for a wider market. Matt Dyer, office manager at National
Ventilation, talks about what makes excellent customer service and why going the extra mile is so important on page 22, and on page 30 we take a closer look at Kew Electrical’s success story as the independent wholesaler turns 25. Plus, as always, the usual news, views, product
innovations and installations from market- leading businesses across the sector! Enjoy.
Happy reading!
