sustainability and the environment. The eco-fit range is Aico’s most eco-friendly range

Aico launches new eco-fit range A

ico is continuously evaluating and innovating their product ranges and services; this new range contributes to the company’s wider commitment to

to date and is exclusive to the technologically advanced 3000 Series of single and multi-sensor alarms: providing maximum protection with minimal packaging. Featuring the award-winning Heat and Carbon

Monoxide Multi-Sensor, the Aico 3000 Series provides whole property coverage from one series. All alarms in this series contain intelligent sensors and utilise Aico’s next- generation of wireless interconnection – SmartLINK, integrating seamlessly with the innovative Gateway for remote monitoring. While retaining all of the features and benefits that the

3000 Series is renowned for, the new eco-fit range is available as head unit only, meaning there are no easi-fit bases, screw packs or dust covers included. This is due to the easi-fit base being universal to all current Aico products, so unless damaged, the bases do not need replacing and are often redundant, contributing to waste plastic. To combat this, the eco-fit range provides a reduction in plastic of 100%. The eco-fit range is ideal for upgrading and retrofitting properties where

ESP offers fire system commissioning service

As part of its comprehensive range of fire protection solutions for the professional electrical contract market, ESPalso offers a commissioning service, which is designed to ensure that all installed ESPsystems operate correctly and are fully compliant with the latest BS5839-1 regulations.

T

his latest development means that contractors can now take advantage of a full fire systems package from ESP, which gives them access to a free design service, a vast choice of products

including the latest two-wire systems, the new commissioning service, plus technical support from a team of qualified and experienced operators. There is much more to commissioning a fire protection system than simply turning it on and setting detector addresses. It involves going through a comprehensive step-by-step checklist to ensure full compliance with the correct British Standard and carrying out a range of tests to ensure reliable and trouble-free operation. ESP’s commissioning service ensures that a qualified engineer will

confirm that the system has reached the relevant British Standard, and they will issue a certificate on completion of the project prior to system

handover. Dedicated ESP commissioning engineers are located throughout the UK to provide access to this new service to a wide-reaching audience. ESP’s extensive fire protection product range is broadly divided into two

categories. The MAGDUO two-wire fire alarm system is aimed at small to medium contractors, offering them a highly flexible and adaptable system that will save them time and money on the installation process. The MAGfire range covers conventional, or four-wire, fire alarm systems which have been traditionally used in smaller properties such as shops and restaurants, as well as addressable systems which are suitable for large commercial premises and more complex networked systems.

As part of its drive to be more environmentally conscious, Aico has announced the launch of its new eco-fit range of alarms.

easi-fit bases are already in situ, making asset management greener and more sustainable. In the UK, it is estimated that five million tonnes of plastic is used every

year, nearly half of which is packaging, with plastic packaging accounting for nearly 70% of our plastic waste. The eco-fit range is available in packs of 10 in minimal, fully recyclable packaging, with a reduced instruction leaflet. This is a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to individually packaged alarms and uses up to 58% less cardboard and paper than individual 3000 Series alarms – minimal packaging, maximum protection. This reduction in packaging means that the eco-fit range is 20% smaller, taking up less storage space. Aico product development manager Michael Wright commented: “The new ecofit range has been created with sustainability in mind. Eco-fit packs are the ideal solution where existing easi-fit bases are already installed as they provide a simple way to install new alarms with minimal packaging waste. The packaging itself is also fully recyclable, all of which helps to support users of our products to reduce their waste when installing alarms.”
