TP(a) rated backlit panel lights from Ovia T

The Inceptor Slate Backlit from Ovia is a range of TP(a) rated backlit panel lights with a low, <19 UGR diffuser, making them suitable for a range of installations and working environments. With its pre-wired push-fit 3-Pole Flow connector making for quick and easy installation, it is proving a very popular choice with contractors.

he Building Regulations Approved Document B2 (buildings other than dwelling houses) places restrictions on the use of certain thermoplastic materials when they are used as

lighting diffusers and form part of a ceiling. TP(a) rated materials may be used almost without restriction, but restrictions exist on the use of TP(b) rated materials. Inceptor Slate Backlit ceiling panels are TP(a) as standard. Inceptor Slate Backlit is a premium LED Panel range and forms part of

Ovia’s commercial lighting offer. They are designed to fit standard 600mm x 600mm panel sizes, making them an ideal retrofit for existing, less efficient lighting options. The range includes:

l30W standard backlit LED panels l30W 3 in 1 dimmable backlit LED panels l30W low-glare backlit LED panels l30W 3 in 1 dimmable, low-glare backlit LED panels

They each come in a choice of warm white, cool white and daylight colour options and they are IP44 rated. They are suitable for a range of installations, and a Suspension Kit and Recessed Frames are available for use with the ceiling panels. A compact emergency conversion pack is also available which allows the luminaire to be upgraded to have an optional emergency back-up supply in the event of mains fail. It will provide emergency lighting for three hours at a lower light level.

The Inceptor Slate Backlit Panel range is featured in the Ovia Issue 2 catalogue which can be downloaded from the Ovia website – www.oviauk.com, or accessed via the Scolmore Group app.

Akuvox launches A05C Smart Access Control Reader

CIE, a leading distributor of audiovisual and security brands, is pleased to announce the UK launch of the A05C from Akuvox, featuring face recognition and multi-format contactless authentication.

T

he A05C is the first of Akuvox’s brand new series of smart IP access control readers and features a distinct 5" HD colour screen that is attractive and easy to use. The unit also

incorporates the latest deep-learning AI and dual-camera technology, which allows for secure, touch-free verification via face recognition, Bluetooth, RFID or QR Code scanning, all of which are supported by the Akuvox SmartPlus smartphone app. With these features available as standard, the A05C is one of the most advanced IP Access Control Readers available on the market. Furthermore, the A05C Access Reader is

also available with optional thermal detection modules to check anyone entering the building for fever-like body temperatures. “The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the world - as we return to

work, school, university and other public access environments, there is a large number of high frequency 'touch points' involved in our daily lives that are likely to spread germs and viruses,” commented Chris Edwards, marketing director of CIE-Group. “With this in mind, Akuvox has been focusing on adding more products to the range that reduce these touch points during day-to-day activities by using a wide range of contactless technologies and features.”

Featuring face recognition technology integrated into an Access Control Unit, the A05C will automatically compare the visitor’s face with a database of enrolled faces and perform automatic match notification to grant access. The unit also embraces QR code-based access control for ‘one time’ access for external visitors. Typically, residents/building managers can generate a QR code from the Akuvox SmartApp for a visitor to use on their mobile device which will allow entry to the building (or specific area) on a limited use/fixed time basis. The A05C complete range of authentication methods for ultimate security and flexibility are secure infrared Face Recognition; QR Code (eg. for one-time access); NFC, RFID and Bluetooth contactless via Smartphone, ID card or keyfob and body temperature detection (if paired up with the Akuvox MD02 unit).

The A05C Access Control Unit is IP65 rated so can be used for external

gate systems and high impact areas. This advanced Access Control device also supports ONVIF open standard for effective integration with other 3rd party IP systems and devices such as IP CCTV cameras and NVRs.
