National Retrofi t Conference highlights pressing need for skilled workforce
T
he pressing need for a skilled retrofi t workforce was once again the topic of much industry debate at the UK’s inaugural National Retrofi t Conference, which took place at London’s ExCeL at the start of March. Curated by The Retrofi t Academy, the three-day conference, in partnership with Futurebuild saw policymakers, industry leaders and other interested parties share their views on the best retrofi t practice that will accelerate progress toward a more sustainable future.
Day one was focused on retrofi t policy,
programmes and leadership. The second day saw the focus shift to an exploration of how the Government and industry is rising to the challenge of decarbonising 27 million homes. The third day concluded with a focus on Unblocking Skills and Unlocking Innovation. Retrofi t Academy CEO David Pierpoint said: During the three-day event, multiple industries were able to come together and discuss ways that we can tackle the challenges we face, all the way from MPs to those on the ground conducting the work.”
Ovia appoints new regional sales managers O
via has announced two new appointments to the sales team as the company continues to enjoy growth and expansion.
Kevin Durkin, a well-known name in the industry, has been promoted to take up the role of regional sales manager for Ovia, covering Scotland and Northern England. Andrew Macdonald joins the Ovia team as regional sales manager for the south of England. In their new roles, Kevin and Andrew will be

responsible for managing the activity of the area sales managers in their respective regions against the strategic requirements of the business.
Kevin comes to his new role with Ovia having spent 12 years in the industry, working within a sales role for some of the sector’s leading brands. Andrew joins the Ovia team with more than 16 years’ experience within a sales environment, including almost ten years with a number of key operators in the lighting sector.
