footprint, streamlining utility bills and taking complete control of their energy use. These cheaper prices mean higher demand for ESM products, and more inbound enquiries for installers. Wholesalers can further support installers with products that allow them to up- sell – bolting on a solar EV charger or energy storage device to an existing ESM installation, for example, has become a much easier sell with such significant price cuts.

VAT Relief Product Highlight: Power Diverters

One type of product now covered by tax relief is the power diverter. Despite being an incredibly useful device and integral part of consumer energy independence, many homeowner don’t really know what a power diverter is or why they

comes in at around £360 without the VAT), they save even more in the long run, they provide users with greater energy independence, and for the eco-conscious consumer they help reduce carbon footprints.

How can wholesalers take advantage? The opportunity is clear, but it’s important to ask yourself a few questions. Have you and your team undertaken the necessary training? With so many new products flooding the market, are you aware of the best solutions available? Becoming acquainted with the latest, and most advanced solutions, should be a priority.

need one. Diverters have yet to reach the same place in public consciousness that EV chargers and home batteries have, primarily because their use case is a little bit obscure to the average consumer. In a nutshell, power diverters make clever use of excess renewable generation to improve domestic functions, and power diverting can be assigned based on personal use and benefit. For example, some users may be best served by using excess renewable energy to power their immersion water heater, while others may wish to run a heat pump for year-round comfort. The best part is, good power diverters can be configured to send energy to more than one

appliance in sequence, automatically switching between them for the greatest efficiency. The result is a dramatic reduction in reliance on the grid and the increasingly costly bills associated with it. Considering the price, power diverters are a no-brainer for those with self- generated renewables. Here at myenergi, we believe that power diverters are a crucial bit of kit for intelligent and forward-thinking homeowners looking to make the most of their investment in small-scale solar, wind, or hydro generation. What does all this mean? Well, with this new tax relief, power diverters have become an even easier up-sell: they’re low-cost (myenergi’s eddi

The government is, and will continue seeking to, incentivise decarbonisation solutions, delivered through instruments like tax relief and subsidies. In October last year, for example, the government upped the maximum grant available towards the installation of heat pumps from £5,000 to £7,500. Prior to the update, we had already seen a rise in home heat pump adoption - in 2023, heat pump installations grew by nearly a fifth (with over 200,000 heats pumps now installed across the country according to new data from the MCS Foundation) - and this number is only expected to continue rising with the availability of larger government grants.

Looking ahead, we’re expecting further government incentives to continue driving up consumer demand for domestic renewable tech, so now is the perfect time for wholesalers to join the party early and get ahead of the curve.
