Advertorials Composite 38999 connectors from Aerco save weight
without compromising performance TE Connectivity’s DEUTSCH ACT Series circular connectors are EMC and environmentally protected, fast and simple to use and very versatile
Aerco, the distributor and stockist of electrical and electronic components servicing hi-rel markets, is now stocking TE Connectivity (TE)’s DEUTSCH MIL- DTL-38999 series next generation ACT composite connectors which deliver up to 40 percent weight savings over similar aluminum devices. TE’s DEUTSCH group created one of the original composites in 1990, and its ACT series shells are not only very lightweight, they are also highly resistant to corrosion, withstanding 2000 hours of salt spray, and very durable, surviving 1,500 mating cycles.
ACT series circular connectors are among the most versatile and popular circular mil spec input/output connectors in the world. They are available in three
shell styles, two plating options, six shell clockings, over 50 different insert arrangements supporting size 23, 22D, 20, 16, 12, 10, and 8 contacts for power and signal, as well as coax and twinax contacts.
Originally designed as military and aerospace components, ACT series connectors are now also used in many other hi-rel applications where extreme reliability is paramount. They feature a scoop-proof design for fast, easy, secure mating, and a triple-lead, threaded self-locking coupling for excellent vibration resistance. Devices are environmentally-sealed and feature grounding fingers and a trapezoidal thread which provides excellent shell-to-shell continuity, to help support high EMC performance.

OMC expands into new manufacturing facility to meet
increased demand for innovative opto solutions Fibre optics & backlights pioneer responds to sustained growth
OMC, the pioneer in optoelectronics manufacturing, has completed its move into a new, purpose-built manufacturing facility, reflecting an increase in demand for both its bespoke and off-the-shelf optoelectronic solutions. The company - known for its LED and fibre-optic expertise as ‘the problem solvers’ - has seen significant growth in two areas, customer-specific LED backlighting for LCD displays, and fibre optic cable assemblies, transmitters and receivers for use in industrial applications. The move into a state-of-the-art new facility will, they say, enable the company to support this growth and develop new solutions.
Explains OMC’s Commercial Director, William Heath: “We have occupied several facilities during our 30+ year history, and are delighted to have now constructed a factory designed specifically for our complex needs. We have dedicated development and assembly departments, as well as specialist test areas and a new machine shop capable of both prototyping and mass component production.”

TE Connectivity's Grove Boards now available to ship
from Mouser Quickly Prototype Temperature, RH, and Pressure Designs
Mouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader that empowers innovation, is now stocking Measurement Specialties Grove system development boards from TE Connectivity (TE), a global leader in connectivity and sensors. These small, plug-and-play development boards allow designers to incorporate TE’s environmental sensors with the Seeed Grove prototyping system, which features standardized four-pin connectors with an I²C communication interface. The easy-to-use boards are ideal for creating designs for wearable and miniature devices, health monitoring, fitness, air quality, aerospace, and battery-powered applications.
TE's Measurement Specialties Grove system development boards are available from Mouser Electronics in five options for sensing a combination of pressure, humidity, and temperature. The HTU21D board includes a fully calibrated humidity and temperature sensor that measures 0 to 100 percent relative humidity (RH) and minus 40 to 125 degrees Celsius (C). The sensor also features selectable resolution, low battery detection, checksum capability, and a low-power standby mode for power-sensitive applications. The MS5637 board is a self-contained pressure and temperature sensor specified for 300 to 1,200 mbar and minus 40 to 85 degrees C. The MS8607 board senses RH (0 to 100 percent) and pressure (300 to 1,200 mbar) and adds temperature sensing in a range of minus 40 to 125 degrees C. The board also features selectable resolution for pressure, humidity, and temperature sensing.

Lattice Semiconductor further expands CrossLink
applications with modular IP cores Latest IP cores enable more flexible video bridging capabilities for consumer, industrial and automotive applications
Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) has announced the availability of seven new modular IP cores for its award winning CrossLink FPGA product for increased design flexibility to support consumer, industrial and automotive applications. These modular IP cores offer the building blocks for customers to create their own unique video bridging solutions.
The mobile industry, through its demand for high volumes and exceptional performance,
has created video components such as processors, displays, and sensors that are valued in other “mobile- influenced” markets. These markets demand cost-effective devices that bridge between MIPI® and other traditional or legacy display and camera interfaces.
Announced in May 2016, the CrossLink product was designed to address barriers faced by the increasingly complex and dynamic video market. Lattice equipped designers with a new way to deliver low power and compact bridging solutions without compromising performance to deliver cutting-edge innovations for multiple growth markets including automotive, AR/VR and drones.
CrossLink evaluation boards with the new IP cores are available now from Lattice and its distributors. To learn more, please visit

Power Integrations and Weltrend Semiconductor announce 18 W USB PD rapid-charger reference design for smart mobile devices
Combination delivers high efficiency and a compact footprint
Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI), the leader in high- voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, in association with Weltrend Semiconductor Inc. (TWSE: 2436), the leader in USB Type-CTM Power Delivery (PD) controllers, today announced a joint reference design describing an 18 W, USB PD compliant, AC-DC power converter targeted at chargers for smart mobile devices. The design, titled DER-567, pairs the WT6630P USB Type-C PD controller from Weltrend with Power Integrations’ InnoSwitch™-CP off-line CV/CC flyback switcher IC, enabling designers to produce a compact and highly energy-efficient standards-compliant power adapter.
Weltrend’s WT6630P USB PD controller is certified by USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) for USB Type-C and is compatible with the USB PD 2.0 baseband communication protocol. The Weltrend device reduces the BOM by combining Type-C cable detection circuits, USB PD physical layer (PHY), and components related to system-level protections such as over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current protection (OCP), and over-temperature protection (OTP).
By providing a constant power output, Power Integrations’ InnoSwitch-CP switcher IC allows battery- operated devices to draw maximum power from the charger at any selected output voltage, optimizing charge time and cost. InnoSwitch-CP ICs use the company’s innovative FluxLink™ technology, eliminating the need for an optocoupler and enabling secondary-side control that delivers fast transient performance, exceptional CV/CC regulation and very low no-load power consumption. FluxLink technology also enables easy implementation of safe synchronous rectification, resulting in an extremely efficient power supply.
