Flexible and durable sensor array from Honeywell for heavy-duty and off-highway applications now in stock at Powell Electronics
Now available through Powell Electronics, the supplier of connectors and more for high-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial, is the Transportation Attitude Reference System (TARS) from Honeywell. TARS is a packaged sensor array designed to report vehicle angular rate, acceleration, and attitude data for demanding applications such as heavy duty and off-highway transportation. The TARS-IMU device measures important vehicle characteristics and enhances efficiency and productivity by reporting key data required to automate and monitor movements of vehicle systems and components. With two sensor models for different power levels, the TARS-IMU sensor array accommodates both 5 V and 9 V to 36 V vehicle power systems. The sensor fusion algorithm can be customized for specific vehicle applications via on-board firmware, allowing movement data to be filtered to minimize unwanted noise and vibrations for improved position accuracy. Communication is transmitted using industry standard CAN J1939 connectivity. As a standard, the TARS-IMU component is calibrated on aerospace-grade rate tables at the factory to provide enhanced calibration consistency between units. The operating temperature range is -40°C up to +85°C. The TARS-IMU sensor array comes in a ruggedized PBT thermoplastic housing and is IP67 and IP69K certified for use in the most demanding environments. A metal guard for added protection is also available.

Panasonic Industry extends its POSCAP offer with ultimately reliable and compact TLE series
Guaranteed 2,000 hours at 125°C in compact housing, new TLE series complements Panasonic’s range of Conductive Polymer Tantalum Solid Capacitors
POSCAP is Panasonic Industry’s family of Conductive Polymer Tantalum Solid Capacitors. With a high characteristical stability and a low ESR being POSCAP’s typical benefits, the company now introduces its latest POSCAP extension, namely the TLE series that promises an unrivalled reliability, especially in terms of guaranteed heat tolerance.
“5G-readiness is – amongst others – a question of components being reliably heat tolerant”, says Shahrokh Kananizadeh, Product Manager from Panasonic Industry Europe. “The TLE series has proven to safely withstand 125°C for at least 2,000 hours. That renders it the capacitor of choice for next-gen processing units, connectivity applications or 5G-infrastructure devices.” Accelerators, base stations, servers and high-end processors require capacitors processing high loads in high-temperature environments – and coming in compact dimensions: The TLE series is as small as 3.5 x 2.8 x 1.9mm and thus even suits the power rail around GPUs and CPUs. “Regarding all the core specs, the TLE series will definitely add a new level of excellence to our POSCAP family now”, summarizes Kananizadeh. “Especially in regards to the emerging importance of modern high performance applications.”

Power Integrations Debuts Support for Planar Magnetics in PI Expert Power Supply Design Tool
Software automatically generates a planar transformer design with full electrical specification and build documentation in just five minutes
Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI), the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, today launched a new function in PI Expert™, the powerful online design tool that automatically generates optimized power supply designs
based on users’ specifications. PI Expert now features a planar magnetics builder that generates an application-specific planar transformer design — complete with printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturer- ready documentation and Gerber files. The latest version of PI Expert now also includes support for Power Integrations’ entire InnoSwitch™3 flyback switcher IC family. Trevor Hiatt, director of channel marketing at Power Integrations said: “Planar transformers facilitate low-profile flyback power supplies. With our new planar magnetics builder, designers can incorporate a sophisticated low-profile transformer in minutes. No other design tool can do this.” The magnetics designer function in PI Expert provides full planar transformer information including stack specification, vertical and horizontal PCB construction, trace parameters, current density information and layer resistance. The tool automatically incorporates user-specified creepage and clearance distances necessary to meet safety isolation standards. An intuitive GUI provides vertical and horizontal stack construction and a bird’s eye view for all layers. The tool also outputs detailed manufacturing information of the planar solution, enabling users to go directly from design to fabrication.
Power Integrations GPS 5 – just a Click away
MIKROE launches new GPS positioning, navigation, and timing add-on board
MikroElektronika (MIKROE), the embedded solutions company that dramatically cuts development time by providing innovative hardware and software products based on proven standards has launched GPS 5 Click - the latest in the company’s ever-growing 1000+ strong line up of compact add-on Click boards™ - that provides users with positioning, navigation, and timing services. This board features the M20050-1, a compact GPS module receiver using the MediaTek MT3333 flash chip, providing a complete GNSS receiver for optimum performance from Antenova. The receiver tracks 3 GNSS constellations concurrently (GPS+Galileo+GLONASS or GPS+Beidou) to considerably enhance location and TTFF (Time-to-first-fix) and has configurable low power modes operating from a 3.3V power supply. In addition to the possibility of using an external antenna, backup power, and various visual indicators, the M20050-1 also has an accurate 0.5ppm TXCO ensuring short TTFF alongside multi-path algorithms, which improves position accuracy in inner-city environments. Comments Nebojsa Matic, CEO at MIKROE: “For just $56, developers can address a broad spectrum of GPS applications where performance, cost, and time to market are prime considerations..” Click boards™ are a modular prototyping add-on board standard invented by MIKROE, which
revolutionizes the way users add new functionalities to development boards. Click boards™ enable design engineers to change peripherals easily, cutting months off development time. To enable hundreds of Click boards™ to be connected to the microcontroller or microprocessor we have invented socket standard - mikroBUS™. This uniform connection interface is allowing you to connect any Click boards™ to a main board instantly. The company releases a new Click boards™ nearly every day at 10am, and many leading microcontroller companies including Microchip, NXP, Infineon, Dialog, STM, Analog Devices, Renesas and Toshiba now include the mikroBUS™ socket on their development boards.

AS6081-certified distributor Princeps invests in and expands anti-counterfeiting facilities; supplies fully traceable difficult-to-source and obsolete components
One of only 2 or 3 UK distributors to hold AS6081; global sourcing for aerospace, defence, energy, transporation sectors
Princeps, the accredited specialist distributor of obsolete and difficult-to-source electronic, electrical and e-mech components for advanced industries, announces it has received renewed AS6081 accreditation following its relocation to larger premises. One of less than five and probably as few as two UK distributors to hold AS6081 certification, Princeps specialises in sourcing fully-traceable components for customers in advanced industries, including aerospace, defence, energy and transportation. The AS6081 standard was created in 2012 by the global engineering association SAE International in response to a significant and increasing volume of fraudulent or counterfeit electronic parts entering the supply chain. It standardizes practices to identify reliable sources, mitigate the risk of distributing fraudulent or counterfeit parts and control and report those suspect or confirmed items to the relevant authorities and potential users. Following its recent relocation to larger premises, Princeps has invested further in its laboratory facilities and renewed its existing AS6081 certification to reflect its new location as required by the association.
