Semiconductors

in addition to software. For example, as automotive technologies become more advanced and cars become more connected, vehicles will be exposed to additional cyber vulnerabilities that may put drivers, passengers, and pedestrians at risk. These concerns will extend to the infrastructure being developed to serve them.

CIE: What are the ambitions for Rambus as the company continues its journey as a chip leader and moves into advanced SoCs? Steven Woo: Rambus is an industry- leading chip and silicon IP company. With over 30 years of advanced semiconductor experience, we are a pioneer in high- performance memory subsystems that solve the bottleneck between memory

and processing for data-intensive systems. As memory continues to become a more integral and more important part of enabling the next generation of AI, we want to ensure we’re continuing to innovate and provide market-leading memory solutions. Rambus’ advancement into complex SoCs allows us to expand our current offerings, address the growing needs of next-generation servers and data centres, and offer CXL solutions for

enterprises pursuing the cutting-edge of AI applications.

CIE: What are your technology predictions for the semiconductor market in the short and medium term?

Steven Woo: We predict that cybersecurity will continue to be a driving force in the chip space, for hardware

Hardware security concerns are also driving government agencies to require stronger approaches to security supply chain authentication as cyberattacks rise and criminal organizations dominate headlines. The demand from the private and public sectors will push the chip industry to invest heavily to stay ahead of bad actors.

We also expect an increase in chiplet startups as the semiconductor industry explores pliable solutions to address the industry’s bottleneck. Large companies have already been doing this in-house, but the next step will be for the industry to invest in making chiplets economical.
