BraggMETER technology offers dynamic solution in industrial environments

Now available from the HBM FiberSensing industrial interrogator range are the new FS22 Industrial BraggMETER optical measurement units, which are specifically designed to interrogate Fiber Braagg Grating based sensors in industrial environments.

Ultimate bench power supply New PWR-01 power supplies

Telonic Instruments announce the UK release of the new Kikusui PWR-01 series of wide-range benchtop programmable DC power supplies.

The PWR-01 series are versatile instruments with models offering 400W, 800W, and 1200W rated power output with maximum rated voltages up to 650V. Equipped with a 4-times voltage and current variable ratio, making this one of the most versatile range of DC power supplies on the market today, the PWR-01 provides flexible current and voltage for a variety of applications.

Variable internal impedance is a unique new feature that allows for various types of simulations suitable for automotive test and other battery-driven applications as well as solar-panel evaluation.

The PWR-01 is also equipped with a soft-start function that limits the inrush current, minimizing any harmful effects to DUTs such as DC motors. The power supplies are also equipped with ergonomic power setting knobs, allowing the operator to control voltage and current independently, as well as front-facing banana plugs designed for safety and convenience.

The PWR-01 programmable internal-memory feature lets the engineer save custom sequences on the power supply, eliminating the need to access a PC every time a test is conducted.

Synchronized operation allows for more complex sequences over multiple channels for accurate testing of DC/DC converters and other products.

LAN (LXI), USB, and RS-232 interfaces are included as a standard; the PWR can be operated in almost any testing environment via SCPI commands, facilitating system integration.

Kikusui power supplies are available for both sale and hire from UK based Telonic Instruments Ltd.

9.0” letterbox format TFT LCD

Craft Data are pleased to introduce their latest 9.0 stretch, bar type or letterbox format TFT LCD. The S090AWX01HS is very compact, measuring just 237.0 x 58.95 x

4.0mm, fitting comfortably into a 2U rack, an active area of 223.68 x 42.0mm provides a high resolution of 1280(RGB) x 240 pixels. The panel’s IPS technology produces super wide viewing angles of 160° on both the horizontal and vertical axis enabling it to be mounted in both landscape and portrait orientations without the loss of viewing angle and colour. A superb optical performance is further enhanced by its 600cd/m² brightness LED backlight and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. An LVDS input makes it easy to interface to a host of today’s SBC’s and other embedded hardware. With its extremely wide operating temperature of - 30°C~85°C the display is ideally suited to the very demanding industrial, automotive, rail and aerospace markets.

HBM FiberSensing Industrial BraggMETER optical interrogators have an Ethernet interface, which enableremote connection to any standard PC through TCP/IP. Featuring easy to use software, which can be installed on the control PC, data acquisition and archiving and definition of measurement configurations can also be easily achieved.

Available in different versions, the FS22 industrial BraggMETER is available in two versions; static (1 S/s) and

dynamic (50 S/s, 100 S/s, 200 S/s, 500 S/s and now 1000 S/s), with 1, 4 or 8 channels. Furthermore time synchronisation over the network can now be improved with the integration of the NTP protocol in the interrogator internal processing unit.

In addition, for reliable peak value detection, a Smart Peak Detection function has now been incorporated into the FS22 (static) BraggMETER interrogators’ real-time operating system.

Easy to install, the new industrial optical interrogator range meets the required reliability and versatility required to be used in both laboratory testing and field deployment in civil, aeronautics, energy and R&D. HBM FiberSensing interrogators are available in standard, rack-mountable and portable models.

BraggMETER interrogators employ proven continuous swept laser scanning technology. They include a traceable wavelength reference that provides continuous calibration to ensure system accuracy over long term operation.

www.hbm.com SMARC module for industrial ethernet

eCOUNT embedded presents the ES-1XXX, its first Computer-on-Module family to support the SMARC 2.0 standard from the SGET. The modules are equipped with ARM Cortex-A9 based Intel®

V SoCs (formerly Altera), which integrate a configurable FPGA. By integrating the Intel Cyclone V SoCs on SMARC Computer-on-Modules customers benefit from an application-ready ultra-low-power platform for extremely cost-efficient custom IIoT designs. Compared to full-custom designs, the development and certification effort is significantly reduced by up to 50 to 90 percent thanks to the provision of complete BSPs, carrier boards, accessories and FPGA IP as well as comprehensive documentation.

Target markets for eCOUNT embedded's new SMARC modules with Intel Cyclone V SoCs are low-power applications in harsh environments such as industrial automation, medical technology, test and measurement systems, as well as transportation and aviation. Thanks to the configurable FPGA, the new SMARC modules can be used in very different configurations. Core FPGA IP, for example for standard industrial Ethernet protocols such as Profinet and EtherCAT, is available off-the-shelf. This makes the new SMARC modules an ideal platform for industrial automation. Additionally there are also many other possible configurations: as I/O controllers, big data loggers with data acquisition, network controllers or extremely energy-efficient HMIs with solar power supply as well as generic configurations, for example, with several PCIe lanes.

"The IIoT trend, which requires more and more intelligence in the connected devices, opens the potential for us to set the same board-level standards for ultra-low-power ARM application processors as were established about 15-20 years ago with Computer-on-Modules for x86 technology," explains Dirk Finstel, Managing Partner and CTO of eCOUNT embedded. "I am convinced that eCOUNT embedded is predestined to take on a pioneering role in the IIoT ARM segment. Our developers already have extensive ARM know-how, and with my career background and as the initiator of the SMARC standard, I possess all the expertise to generate the essential market acceptance and penetration."

OKW’s sophisticated new extruded enclosures

for control electronics SMART-TERMINAL is suitable for handheld, desktop and wall mounted electronics.

OKW has launched SMART-TERMINAL – a brand new range of sophisticated extruded aluminium and plastic enclosures for control electronics.

SMART-TERMINAL is only the second OKW range to combine aluminium extrusions with plastic. It is designed for applications including peripheral and interface equipment, communications, safety engineering, biometrics, medical and laboratory technology, healthcare, measurement and control engineering.

Elegant SMART-TERMINAL combines ultra-modern aesthetics with smart design and robust construction to

create high quality enclosures with plenty of space for large volume touchscreens, display modules and PCBs. The enclosures can be used for desktop, handheld and wall mounted applications. Its large flat surfaces offer lots of options for installing interfaces.

SMART-TERMINAL’s matt anodised aluminium case body features a large recessed area on top for displays, membrane keypads and operating elements. Horizontal guide rails and T-groove screw channels are provided inside for fitting PCBs. The base is fitted by Torx T10 anti-tamper screws.

The two end covers are moulded from UV-stable ASA+PC-FR (standard colour lava grey) with deep recesses to protect cables and connectors. These covers sit snugly in designer soft-touch TPV seals (volcano grey or green as standard). Covers and seals are held in place by hidden Torx T10 screws.
