Direct Insight resells BlackBerry Jarvis 2.0 in the United Kingdom

BlackBerry’s single-tool solution helps protect complex embedded systems, analyzing and detecting cyberthreats in minutes

Direct Insight, a UK-based, technical systems integrator and reseller of system-on-module (SoM) and other embedded systems including BlackBerry® QNX®, today announced an agreement with BlackBerry to resell BlackBerry® Jarvis™2.0. Designed for companies that build secure, mission-critical systems, BlackBerry’s binary software analysis and security testing tool helps to secure customers’ multi-tiered supply chains and protect embedded software assets from sophisticated cyberattacks against critical industries and infrastructure. David Pashley, Direct Insight’s MD, comments: “Cybersecurity is rightly a major issue right now, but it

can be hard to track all the open-source code that is typically used in an embedded design when there is a complex supply chain. New regulations such as the U.S. Federal Government’s Executive Order on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity or directions from WP.29, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE’s) Sustainable Transport Division covering international automotive cybersecurity require vendors to provide software bills of materials (SBOMs) and demonstrate cybersecurity management. This can be a very onerous task." BlackBerry Jarvis, available through Direct Insight, a BlackBerry QNX Distributor & Value-Added

Integrator, enables designers to detect and analyse the software composition of their products by producing an SBOM without having to access source code, much quicker that it is possible to do manually. This ability to efficiently produce an accurate SBOM is the foundation of the cybersecurity management required by emerging regulations.

Universal programmer/debugger uniquely enables Wi-Fi operation

CODEGRIP from MIKROE covers ARM® Cortex®-M, RISC-V, PIC®, dsPIC, PIC32, and AVR MCU architectures

MikroElektronika (MIKROE), the embedded solutions company that dramatically cuts development time by providing innovative hardware and software products based on proven standards, has launched UNI CODEGRIP, a universal programmer and debugger for ARM® Cortex®-M, RISC-V, PIC®, dsPIC, PIC32, and AVR MCU architectures. Uniquely, CODEGRIP enables designers to program and debug their designs over Wi-Fi, as well as USB-C. By bridging differences between various MCUs, UNI CODEGRIP allows a huge number of MCUs from

several different MCU vendors to be programmed and debugged. More MCUs are being added, and updates will be free for the product lifetime. Whilst the USB-C connector interface offers improved performance and reliability, compared to

traditionally-used USB Type A/B connectors, wireless connectivity redefines the way the development board can be used. For example, CODEGRIP can be placed in difficult-to-access locations such as hazardous environments, agricultural establishments or high-rise buildings while still giving full debugging and programming access. Nebojsa Matic, CEO at MIKROE, adds: “Replicating a user’s hardware has always been a challenge, but debugging through Wi-Fi enables technical support to directly access user’s hardware." The graphical user interface (GUI) of the CODEGRIP Suite is clear, intuitive, and easy to learn, providing

a very pleasant user experience. The embedded HELP system provides detailed guidelines for every aspect of the CODEGRIP Suite. CODEGRIP comes as a stand-alone device and as an integrated on-board module.

New high-voltage, long-life dry reed relays now rated up to an astonishing 200W

Significantly higher current-carry rating and small size for closer stacking from Pickering Electronics

Pickering Electronics has released yet another high voltage relay within the unique Series 67 range. Now available with the highest power switch in the Pickering portfolio, rated up to an impressive 200W. With a stand-off voltage of up to 8 kV, and capable of 6kV switching with a power rating of 200W, Series 67 relays are constructed using a leadframe in a Single-in-Line (SIL) format and feature former-less coils which results in a smaller package than is usual for this type of device. Commented Kevin Mallett, Technical Specialist at Pickering Electronics: “Long-life tungsten contacts

with a higher power and high current carry capabilities enable Series 67 reed relays to be used in high- performance applications where high reliability is demanded. The unusual SIL package style permits some interesting stacking possibilities making the relays very

versatile when used to construct high-density multiplexers or matrices.” Series 67 dry reed relays feature PCB connections to both switch and coil. Similarly rated sister devices

in Pickering's Series 68 family have PCB connections to the coil and flying leads to the switch which separates the high voltage away from the PCB. Devices are available with 5, 12, and 24V coils with optional internal diode, and in 1 Form A and 1 Form

C configurations. Other voltages can be supplied to special orders as can variations in the lead length of the Series 68 type.

Power Integrations Bundles New Three-Phase BLDC Control Software into Motor-Expert Suite for BridgeSwitch IC Family

Hardware-Software Solution for Three- Phase BLDC Motor Inverters Enables Greater Than 98 Percent Efficiency, Saves PCB Space and Speeds Time-to-Market

Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI), the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits (ICs) for energy-efficient power conversion, today unveiled new control software for three-phase BLDC motor drives. Combined with Power Integrations’ BridgeSwitch™ integrated half- bridge motor driver and easy-to-use Motor- Expert™ configuration and diagnostics tool, this complete hardware-software solution enables 98.2 percent efficiency, reduces board space by more than 70 percent and requires just three components for current feedback circuitry, compared to 30 components in a discrete solution. The solution is ideal for residential and commercial appliances with three-phase motors, such as air conditioner fans, high-speed hair dryers, refrigerator compressors, range hood fans and water pumps. “Traditional three-shunt field-oriented control (FOC) solutions require expensive and bulky operational

amplifiers (op-amps) and matching circuity for motor- current signal conditioning,” states Cristian Ionescu-Catrina, senior product marketing manager for Power Integrations. “Our BridgeSwitch integrated half- bridge ICs provide lossless current feedback for the positive half cycle, and our three- phase FOC software reconstructs the negative half-cycle current information from data present in the other phase current signals. This eliminates the need for costly and inefficient external current sense resistors, op-amps and matching circuitry and the associated complexity.”

Pickering Interfaces augments PXI microwave MUX with the addition of 67 GHz terminated switches to support 5G and semiconductor test

4x-785C PXI & PXIe range increases performance, minimizes space and cost

Debuting at International Microwave Symposium (IMS), Booth 11006, Colorado Convention Center 19-24 June 2022, Denver, CO

Pickering Interfaces, the leading supplier of modular signal switching and simulation solutions for use in electronic test and verification, has augmented its 4x-785C range of SP4T & SP6T microwave multiplexers with the addition of 67 GHz terminated SP4T / SP6T modules to support the latest requirements of the 5G and semiconductor test sectors. The 40-785C (PXI) and 42-785C (PXIe) modules feature internal relay terminations that can improve signal integrity. Devices feature panel and remote mount options that enable users to locate the switches at the most convenient location for their application; remote mount options occupy a single chassis slot but can control up to three switches, saving space. The 4x-785C family is based on industry-leading superior quality Radiall mechanical microwave switches.

The addition of 67 GHz 50 Ω internally terminated switches allows unused channels of a test system to be terminated in the characteristic impedance of the signal path, thus maximizing signal integrity. Remote mount options connect each switch to the control module via a 1.5 M cable providing

flexibility in switch positioning. This reduces the length of RF connections, thus maximizing performance and minimizing cabling costs. Chassis slot count is minimized as only 3-slots are required for a single configuration - or 6-slots for dual panel mount switch - or just a single slot for the remote mount versions.
