New options for ROLEC’s aluCASE diecast enclosures

ROLEC has added new options to its aluCASE range of diecast aluminium enclosures: transparent lids, integrated hinges and a console adapter for desktop use.

Smart modern aluCASE is ROLEC’s premier ‘go anywhere’ enclosure for industrial electronics. It can be mounted on walls, machines, bulkheads and desks.

All aluCASE enclosures can be installed lid closed¹ to safeguard the electronics and seal ideal for challenging environments. The fixing and lid screws are hidden beneath clip-on trims, protecting them from the elements and enhancing the aesthetic appearance.

The lid is recessed to accommodate a membrane keypad, front plate or product label. Two sizes AC 092K (160 x 90 x 60 mm) and ACF 110K (140 x 110 x 60 mm) are now available with transparent lids moulded from thermoplastic.

Most aluCASE models are available with polypropylene (PP) lid retaining straps. New integrated hinges for heavier loads can be mounted on either narrow side of the enclosure. These hinges have concealed fixings for superior strength, resilience and aesthetics.

Threaded (M5) screw bosses are provided in the base and lid for PCBs, mounting plates and DIN rails. Cable glands and other accessories are also available.

ROLEC aluCASE is available in 29 sizes from 140 x 110 x 60 mm to 430 x 300 x 120 mm and with ingress protection ratings of IP 66, IP 67 and IP 69K (optional). The standard colour is window grey (RAL 7040). Prices start at £64.

Options include: the new console adapter (100 mm or 200 mm) for desktop use; integrated hinges; anodised aluminium trims instead of the standard polyoxymethylene (POM) trims; key lock access for added security; an internal mounting plate kit; a corrosion-proof coasting (azure blue RAL 5009).

ROLEC aluCASE can be supplied installation-ready. Customisation services include: CNC machining, custom colours, printing, engraving/laser engraving, EMC shielding, membrane keypads and assembly.

elastomer for RFI/EMI shielding. Kemtron, the British manufacturer of RFI/EMI shielding gaskets, materials and components has launched a flame retardant, low smoke, low toxicity EMC shielding gasket. Tested and approved to the international standard UL94V-0 by Underwriters Laboratories for flame retardancy, file number E344902.

The material is a nickel coated graphite loaded into silicone elastomers, product code SNG-FR, the gasket provided a highly electrically conductive path between mating flanges of an electronics equipment enclosure giving a high level of RFI/EMI shielding. Nickel coated graphite in silicone is the most cost effective of

all the electrically conductive silicone elastomers and its performance in many applications will exceed that of silver based products due to its more aggressive surface finish providing a very low surface contact resistance. The material can be supplied as an extruded strip in various profiles, “O” rings or flat die cut gaskets. Electrically conductive pressure sensitive adhesive can be applied to flat gaskets to aid assembly.

Omron’s facial recognition technology ANQ have used Omron’s Human Vision Component (HVC-P2), a fully integrated ready to use facial recognition module, in their digital signage platform to significantly improve retail customers’ in-store experience by providing relevant content on digital signage screens and retailers with improved performance metrics.

HVC-P2 can capture, detect and recognise a face over a distance of up to 3m and will provide a confidence level with its reading. The module can estimate the subject’s mood based on one of five expressions. It can also detect a human body up to 17m away and a hand at a distance of 6m. HVC implements the OKAO software on a hardware platform complete with camera.

ANQ have developed a fully integrated Customer Analytics Module, which works behind the scenes using Omron’s facial recognition technology, to provide valuable insights through anonymously capturing customer data.

Web: http://components.omron.eu Demand grows for Conex-it screwless

terminal blocks Hitaltech’s Conex-it brand of PCB-mounted screwless terminal blocks is proving increasingly popular.

In any application, the right connector is one which marries performance with assembly simplicity and cost effectiveness. That’s the reason for growing demand for Hitaltech’s Conex-it range of connectors and in particular its extensive range of PCB mounted screwless terminal blocks.

Screwless terminal blocks can offer numerous benefits over their screw-based counterparts:

• Improved vibration resistance • Quick and easy to install

• Cost savings derived from the technology and the reduced assembly time

This makes them ideal for applications where vibration is constant. It also ensures installation is quicker and more cost effective.

High voltage connectors Yet the Conex-it range offers more than simply screwless. “We also have a wide array of high power terminal blocks and connectors,” says Andy Fitzer, Hitaltech MD. “These are suitable for high voltage, high current applications such as surge protection, power distribution and supply and are available up to 125Amps on a 15mm pitch, using 35mm2wire entry rated at 600V.”

Ultimate bench power supply New PWR-01 power supplies

Telonic Instruments announce the UK release of the new Kikusui PWR-01 series of wide-range benchtop programmable DC power supplies.

The PWR-01 series are versatile instruments with models offering 400W, 800W, and 1200W rated power output with maximum rated voltages up to 650V. Equipped with a 4-times voltage and current variable ratio, making this one of the most versatile range of DC power supplies on the market today, the PWR-01 provides flexible current and voltage for a variety of applications.

Variable internal impedance is a unique new feature that allows for various types of simulations suitable for automotive test and other battery-driven applications as well as solar-panel evaluation.

The PWR-01 is also equipped with a soft-start function that limits the inrush current, minimizing any harmful effects to DUTs such as DC motors. The power supplies are also equipped with ergonomic power setting knobs, allowing the operator to control voltage and current independently, as well as front-facing banana plugs designed for safety and convenience.

The PWR-01 programmable internal-memory feature lets the engineer save custom sequences on the power supply, eliminating the need to access a PC every time a test is conducted.

Synchronized operation allows for more complex sequences over multiple channels for accurate testing of DC/DC converters and other products.

LAN (LXI), USB, and RS-232 interfaces are included as a standard; the PWR can be operated in almost any testing environment via SCPI commands, facilitating system integration.

Kikusui power supplies are available for both sale and hire from UK based Telonic Instruments Ltd.
