What are your predictions for the market in 2022?
The industrial sector continues to be a top market for us. But other areas are growing rapidly and will continue to do so in 2022. Take automotive, for example. Electrification and digitalisation of the automotive platform is an unstoppable trend now, and there will continue to be inspiring innovations in those areas. That innovation won’t be restricted to the big OEMs, though. There will be a more distributed development of electric technology as second- and third-tier suppliers come to market with innovative products — not just for automotive applications but also for other forms of transport such as boats and agricultural vehicles.
to support the business model. We have the newest products and the widest range of inventory, with the quantities that the market demands. Design engineers are looking for an edge that can get them in front of the competition. Product availability has become
even more critical in a world where supply delays can run into weeks or even months. So, we are well positioned and see plenty of opportunities for the continued development of our online model, supported by a strong technical resource centre that provides

The other area that will continue to grow in 2022 is healthcare. This is a low- volume, high-value sector predominantly, and most of the creativity in devices comes with the need for high-quality, branded electronics. The provision of healthcare services is also evolving. Remote consultations are becoming increasingly
commonplace, and wearable devices that can monitor vital signs have become mainstream. So, we’d say that automotive and healthcare are among the sectors to watch in 2022.
Would you like to add anything else? The past couple of years have been very difficult for many people across the globe, and the electronics industry has proven itself to be highly resilient in unprecedented times. However, what has always shone through has been the incredible amount of innovation within our customer base. Everybody we are talking to right now is designing and building new products, devices and systems that are quicker, smaller, and more reliable. And the design is based on electronics components. We have seen how electronics now make up over 40 per cent of a new car’s cost, and this growth is likely to be experienced in many other types of products and systems. That makes the electronics sector an exciting place to be right now. And it points to a bright future for the industry over the long term.
