Advertorials FPGA-based NVMe data storage solution targets
high-performance computing applications Aldec has launched a powerful, versatile and time-saving FPGA-based NVMe Data Storage solution to aid in the development of high-performance computing applications, such as high frequency trading and machine learning.
The solution includes an Aldec TySOM embedded prototyping board and up to eight (stackable) high- bandwidth, low-latency Aldec FMC-NVMe daughter cards.
• The TySOM board is based on Xilinx®
UltraScale+ MPSoC technology, which incorporates a high-performance APU with DDR4 system memory controller and hardened configurable PCIe GEN3 blocks in the programmable logic part. These features enable the boards to implement a rich-featured Root Port of PCIe Root Complex solution to meet the underlying physical layer requirements of the NVMe protocol.
• Each daughter card provides four Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) interfaces connected to a Microsemi PM8532 PCIe Switch, which provides a connection-to-carrier-card via the PCIe x8 GEN3 interface using a standard FMC connector.
Also included is a reference design, with source files and libraries, allowing engineers to fast-track their projects.

The Heat’s Off
Inseto is now supplying DELO’s new MONOPOX TC2270, a thermally conductive, electrically insulating adhesive which is ideal for applications where rapid heat transfer is essential, such a bonding silicon die.
With a specific thermal conductivity of 1.7 W/mK, the adhesive ensures efficient heat transfer and is cheaper than silver epoxy. Other benefits include:
• The minimum curing temperature
is 60ºC in about 90 minutes - so it can be used with temperature sensitive materials; • It is a one-part adhesive - so no mixing is required; and
• Storage is at -18ºC, a temperature accommodated by standard commercially available freezers - whereas most die-attach adhesives need to be stored in industrial freezers at much lower temperatures, such as -40ºC.
The datasheet for this adhesive and others can be viewed online at Inseto’s website.

Zynq™ ATC Semitec signs a distribution agreement
with Heraeus Nexensos Platinum Sensors ATC Semitec, the UK’s leading distributor of temperature sensors, has announced that the Heraeus Nexensos’ range of platinum sensors has joined their line-up of precision thermal components. Heraeus are the worldwide market and technology leaders in platinum thin film technology.
Robin Savin ATC Semitec’s MD commented ‘We are delighted to include the range of Heraeus platinum sensors within our portfolio. It is a perfect fit which complements our current range.
With our involvement across many different industries we see an increased demand for sensors at temperatures of 500°C and above. This being particularly relevant in the industrial probe sensor, automotive and 3D printing markets.
Thin film platinum RTD elements are now extremely cost effective compared with other RTD sensing technologies, and due to their key characteristics of high precision, stability, repeatability and interchangeability, we see opportunities for even greater use within the UK and Irish markets.
The Heraeus range of products joins an already impressive line-up of innovative products from Semitec, PEPI, Asahi, TKS/ Thinking Electronics, Schott and Fuzetec.

www.atcsemitec.co.uk Customising CombiTac connectors just got
easier with a new online configurator CombiTac connectors can house a very wide variety of contact types in a single casing. Choosing which contacts to use and where to place them has become much easier with Stäubli’s upgraded Configurator tool.
This intuitive online service can be accessed from any web browser, and enables designers to quickly and easily build up a CombiTac connector to meet their precise requirements. Realistic 3D simulation shows how the connector will appear, enabling users to explore the final product and review assembly dimensions.
Modules can be chosen from a wide range of contact types including power, signal, data, thermocouple, coaxial, fibre optic and bus connections and even media such as pneumatics and hydraulics. Interactive graphical assistance is available throughout the configuration process.
3D STEP data files and parts lists can be downloaded to simplify the design process. A transparent view of the housing enables easy monitoring of the cable connections. As an additional service, pre-assembled cables are available which allow quick and secure installation.
The Configurator can be accessed from the dedicated CombiTac web site at
configurator.combitac.com. User registration is not required.
