Lattice Semiconductor announces design wins with Pioneer & Onkyo Corporation for Prosumer A/V home

entertainment receiver systems Pioneer Selects Lattice SiI9437 Receiver IC for Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) HDMI®

2.1 Capabilities

Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC), a leading provider of customizable smart connectivity solutions, today announced that Pioneer & Onkyo Corporation has selected the Lattice HDMI eARC Receiver IC to provide “eARC” features for its Pioneer Elite 7.2 channel SC-LX502 and Elite 9.2 channel VSX-LX503 home A/V receivers (AVR), which provide multiple wired and wireless connectivity options for audio, video and gaming components.

“Adding HDMI eARC to our cutting-edge Elite line of A/V receivers gives our customers a forward-compatible home theater solution, designed to support enhanced 4K and 8K televisions of the future,” said Akira Takahashi, Director of Pioneer & Onkyo Corporation. “With HDMI eARC, our A/V Receiver can play surround-sound audio, including high-bitrate audio, from the television’s built-in streaming apps, as well as from devices attached directly to the TV.”

“We are pleased that Pioneer selected the Lattice eARC ICs to help them deliver an uncompromised A/V experience to consumers,” said Marshall Goldberg, Product Marketing Manager, Lattice Semiconductor. “Lattice worked with leading companies to develop eARC to prevent forward-compatibility issues as the HDMI standard evolves. Our eARC ICs are designed to work with any existing HDMI transmitter or receiver IC and any version of HDMI. They are part of Lattice’s comprehensive portfolio of low-power FPGAs and connectivity ASSPs designed to make prosumer A/V products smarter, sleeker and longer lasting.”

New version of industry-leading switching signal routing software from Pickering Interfaces improves

performance and simplifies use Auto-Detection speeds set-up; Route-Caching increases switching speed

Pickering Interfaces, the leading supplier of modular signal switching and simulation solutions for use in electronic test and verification, has launched an updated version of its signal routing software, Switch Path Manager Version 6.1.2, which adds auto-detection and route caching features that improve speed and performance.

Pickering’s Switch Path Manager (SPM) software simplifies signal routing through switching systems and speeds up the

development of switching system software and is especially useful for large complex switching systems. It supports Pickering’s 1000’s of switching modules and the interconnection between them. Once a switching system model has been created, signal routing can be achieved simply by defining the endpoints that are required to be connected. Useful features like short-circuit detection are included.

The latest version, 6.1.2 introduces the Auto-Detect Configurator which pre-communicates with the hardware before it gets added into the configuration, connector information, handling addressing, verification of the hardware’s existence in SPM, naming and identification – greatly minimises the initial SPM switching configuration task.

Route Caching is a means of improving routing performance. The route calculation when making a connection takes time. If there is a sequence of repeated connections, Route Caching avoids double calculations and uses the stored route data, thus speeding up the switching.

www.pickeringtest.com High-accuracy, large aperture current transducer

from Danisense measures up to 1200Arms Targets testing of high power converters for today’s electric and hybrid vehicles Key points:

• Measure signals up to 1200Arms/1500A DC • Excellent linearity (<1ppm) and very low offset (12ppm)

• High bandwidth to 300kHz for SiC and GaN technology

• Large 45mm diameter aperture facilitates ease of use

• High EMC robustness provided by metal housing

Danisense, the leader in high-accuracy current transducers for demanding applications, today announced the DM1200, a high-accuracy current transducer capable of measuring signals up to 1200Arms and 1500A DC. Specifically targeting the

eV and heV markets which requires higher power converters that can be rapidly-charged, the DM1200 also features a large, 45mm diameter aperture which makes testing easier and more cost-effectively as frequent installation and replacement of the system under test can be performed without the need to remove the primary cable connector.

Like all Danisense current sensors, the DM1200 is based on a closed loop system, powered by a flux gate as the magnetic field detector. This zero-flux technology enables the DM1200 to feature excellent linearity of <1ppm with a very low offset of 12ppm and very low amplitude and phase shifts. These parameters are critical for accurate measurement of the efficiency of the converter, as they cause measurement errors.

OMC introduces new FDH36 rugged bulkhead housing for fibre optic transmitters and receivers with ST connector

Suits industrial, automotive and mass-transit applications

OMC, the pioneer in optoelectronics design & manufacture, has announced its new FDH36 rugged bulkhead-mount housing for fibre optic receivers and transmitters. The new device incorporates an ST connector and has been developed as the ST version of OMC’s popular FDH1 transmitter and receiver housing. The robust design of the FDH36 helps it withstand the harsh operating environments often found in industrial, automotive, mass transit and similar applications, including off-road vehicles.

The new FDH36 consists of an all-metal, rugged turret design with a square base flange. The flange features mounting holes in each corner and is designed to bolt

down firmly to the bulkhead, helping to ensure a robust and secure fixing. As well as offering greater physical resilience than plastic housings, the FDH36’s metal construction also helps with screening against radio frequency interference.

OMC’s fibre optic systems are used in braking systems on trains; military radar systems; engine monitoring systems; destructive automotive crash testing; machine vision in robotics; data transmission in CNC machinery in industrial applications; petrol pump control systems at filling stations and many other applications across multiple industry sectors.

New 3-phase gate drive solution from Pre-Switch doubles power; boosts switching speeds by up to 20x; increases eV range by 5-12%

Si-valley start-up uses AI to solve soft-switching control challenge for DC/AC and AC/DC power conversion; Massive advantages demonstrated for burgeoning electric vehicle market and others

Pre-Switch, Inc., a Silicon Valley start-up that emerged from stealth mode last year, today expanded its revolutionary soft-switching IGBT and silicon carbide gate driver architecture to cover 3-phase power systems. The platform, including the Pre-Drive™3 controller board, powered by the Pre-Flex™ FPGA, and RPG gate driver board, enables a doubling of power output for a typical inverter, or an increase in switching speed by a factor of up to 20 times.

Hard-Switching is the most commonly-used technique for DC/AC power converters but it has numerous drawbacks, the largest of which is the introduction of switching losses - wasted energy produced while a transistor fully transitions between On and Off states. These switching losses are responsible for a large percentage of power converter losses. In contrast, soft-switching minimises switching losses but is has never been successfully- implemented for DC/AC systems with varying input voltage, temperature and load conditions. Pre-Switch uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to constantly-adjust the relative timing of elements within the switching system required to force a resonance to offset the current and voltage wave forms – thereby minimising switching losses.

Pre-Switch’s forced-resonant soft-switching topology replaces the traditional IGBT or silicon carbide driver with a common intelligent controller board, Pre-Drive3, and a specific plug-in RPG (Resonant Power Gate) module optimised for the customer’s chosen SiC or IGBT package. The Pre-Switch architecture delivers the same switching loss performance – or better – as a five-level design, but significantly reduces cost, control complexity and BOM count.

Bruce T. Renouard, CEO, Pre-Switch

Says Bruce T. Renouard, CEO, Pre-Switch: “Customers have called Pre-Switch’s soft-switching technology ‘the Holy Grail’ for power conversion. eV designers have been amongst the first to adopt this exciting technology because it dramatically- reduces iron core loses in electric motors at cruising torques, providing 5-12 % more range. However, our soft-switching technology is also applicable to a wide range of industries, and is independent of device technology.”
