BRAND PROFILE
Q&A with Cherry Blossom
What’s the story behind the brand? As the first - and now only - shoe care range manufactured in the United Kingdom, Cherry Blossom has an unrivalled history of providing total product protection and a performance-based heritage spanning over 100 years. The Cherry Blossom story dates back to 1906 when the Mason brothers, who were tired of having shoe polish rub off onto their clothing, decided to create a polish that could last an entire day. Backed by imaginative marketing, the brand quickly became a huge success. In 1994, Cherry Blossom was bought by Grangers International, who still own the brand today. Over the years, the Cherry Blossom range has evolved and grown to meet the demands of consumers, new footwear materials and traditional British weather – with the principle of protection always remaining at the forefront. Cherry Blossom products are suitable for all footwear types and materials, leaving you with the protection you need at the moment you need it most.
Is there a brand philosophy? To continue to clean, care and protect every step, just as we have since 1906.
What sets this brand apart from the rest? Cherry Blossom holds a strong British heritage, is a well-recognised household name and the go-to polish brand of the UK. Regardless of your age, it’s a brand you’ve heard of and know you can rely on to provide all your footwear needs. Cherry Blossom is also still manufactured in the UK allowing complete control over the quality of the product range.
Does this brand offer a good profit margin for retailers? The product range is competitively priced and there is a selection of stand deals which offers retailers improved discount opportunities.
32 • MODA SUPPLEMENT • AUGUST 2018
Where is the brand assembled/manufactured? In Derbyshire, in the heart of the UK.
How is the brand marketed? Do you use social networking? As well as various marketing campaigns, including print, radio and digital media, the brand has its own Social Media accounts on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. We also liaise with our key retail partners and regularly advertise in various publications including Footwear Today and Cutting Edge.
What does the future have in store? Later this year, the company will be moving to a new custom-built Head Quarters at Markham Vale on Junction 29a of the M1. This is an exciting time for the brand, as it will see all of the company’s core functions brought under one roof including manufacturing, distribution, finance, design, sales and marketing divisions. Together with this, there are also plans to improve machinery, thus collectively leading to greater efficiencies and opportunities to grow the business further.
