SUPPLEMENT Automation UK 2023
MVC 2023 will debut an array of machine vision technologies
The annual Machine Vision Conference (MVC) and Exhibition will showcase the very best in machine vision and industrial technology. Now in its seventh year, MVC is an established industrial vision confex that regularly attracts over 500 visitors a day and features a wealth of sector-specific exhibitors and expert presentations
O
rganised by UKIVA (UK Industrial Vision Association), the MVC event promotes the use of image processing
technology throughout UK industry and allows visitors to experience the benefi ts of automated inspection, combining the latest machine vision systems with automation. Taking place at the Coventry Building
Society Arena between 20 and 21 June 2023, MVC will be its usual content-packed event, providing visitors with a wealth of new, up-to-date information with over 40 technical seminars dedicated to machine vision users and engineers. Alongside the conference is an industrial vision exhibition showcasing the latest innovations. Combined, the confex is a must attend event for anyone looking for a vision solution for their business. Highlights include new solutions from some of the leading names in the machine vision sector. TPL Vision (Stand 45) has extended its Modular range with the Modular Tiny Bar light (M-TBAR), which improves fl exibility for users, providing a convenient way of expertly illuminating small-scale vision applications that require a robust lighting solution.
Capitalising on its 15 years of expertise and continuous R&D input, Hikrobot (Stand 13) has recently launched a full range of new products, many of which will be on display at the show. New products include specially designed industrial cameras and data interfaces for high-speed applications, VM4.3 software with better algorithm performance, more versatile code readers from fi xed to handheld, new smart cameras with compact size and powerful built-in algorithms, as well as 3D cameras for high-precision measurement and robotics applications.
IDS Imaging Development Systems (Stand 39) will show new products, with the resolution and accuracy of its Ensenso N series 3D cameras. Acrovision (Stand 18) will be

demonstrating at least two examples of user-friendly AI/Machine Learning vision, helping conclude identifi cation or inspection problems that traditional vision tools have so far been unable to resolve. The demonstrations will be using technology that challenges the assumption that AI/Deep Learning vision has to be expensive or diffi cult and time consuming to implement, using easy to set up smart cameras not requiring external PCs or software.
For its conference presentation,
Acrovision will be concentrating on the benefi ts of using AI OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for various identifi cation tasks. Whether it is a laser- etched serial number on an automotive part or a use-by-date on a wrinkled consumer product packaging, the company will demonstrate how new Edge Learning tools are making these previously problematic applications easier to solve. With its 12Mpixel sensors, the new BVS
3D-RV1 3D camera from Matrix Vision (Stand 3) achieves a level of detection accuracy that is required for handling
An integrated pattern projector optimises the detection of diffi cult parts or scenes with little visual texture. The supplied software library ensures compatibility with the GigE Vision and GenICam standards and therefore fl exible integration with customers’ own applications and third-party 3D software. For the fi rst time this year, MVC is co-located with Automation UK, the new exhibition being staged by PPMA stablemate, BARA (the British Automation & Robot Association). The co-location off ers MVC visitors the opportunity to share in the expert seminar programme as well as tour the sister show, which highlights the latest products, developments and solutions in robotics and automation. For fi rst-time visitors and those new to the sector, the UKIVA event will seek to inform, educate and de-mystify machine vision. Demonstrating new technology and preconfi gured packages can ease implementation in diff erent applications and diff erent industries, signifi cantly simplifying installation and setup. Both the UKIVA and BARA are members of the PPMA (Processing and Packaging Machinery Association) group of trade associations. The PPMA is the UK trade association for suppliers of processing and packaging machinery to both the domestic and overseas markets. With more than 550 member companies, the association’s principal objective is to help members sell more products and services through the PPMA Group’s various exhibitions, publications and training.
