across all sectors, further exacerbated by wars and the ongoing energy crisis; then, there are the many technologies that need integrating and teaching to the workforce. In addition, current worker shortages, but also pupils who do not readily enter manufacturing and technology disciplines are further problems, all of which we will discuss at the event.
Automation Live presenters include: • Peter Wrigley, MD, Bermondsey Electronics;
• Paul Garner, Account Manager, Education and Collaborative Robots for ABB Robotics in the UK;
• Neil Mead, Head of Regional Marketing, Kuka; and
• Stephan Pottel, Automotive Manufacturing Practice Lead, EMEA, Zebra Technologies Pottel of Zebra Technologies will look at how manufacturing industries are moving from islands to ecosystems of automation and Industry 5.0, and what’s driving that – from the on- demand economy, labour shortages, expectations around compliance, safety, speed, sustainability, the need to remain competitive, upskilling/reskilling, rethinking technologies to put people at the centre, and so on. His presentation will include latest insights and data from the field, with a particular focus on machine vision and robotics automation.

increasing rate,” adds KUKA’s Mead. “To enjoy continued economic success, companies must anticipate and respond to emerging manufacturing trends and technologies. Between robotics in the workplace and IoT in manufacturing, to AI and the automation economy, the fl exibility to adopt and adapt to new technologies gives industrial companies room for continued refi nement and growth.” Paul Garner, Account Manager for
Education and Collaborative Robots at ABB believes the future strenghts of our industry lie in education: “The future of work is changing. Developments in technology are already transforming both the way we carry out tasks and the way we communicate and relate to one another. In the commercial and manufacturing world, problems including global labour shortages, fractured supply chains and geopolitical instability are seeing an increased rollout of automated technologies as business owners take steps to build their resilience and ensure they can continue to operate when workers are not readily available.”
