The diverse product examples supplied to robotics by Bonfi glioli range from individual components such as shafts and gear wheels, complete low-backlash gearboxes for axes 1-3 of buckling arm robots, to compact electromechanical drive solutions for AMRs.
Speed and accuracy
Robotic motion is all about speed and accuracy, but also power – depending on the size or weight of the tool or workpiece. The base, the carousel as the fi rst axis, rotates the entire robot around its own axis, the so-called swing arm is tilted by a second axis and the third axis tilts the arm. Bonfi glioli serves these three axes with robot-specifi c solutions, i.e., gear units designed specially for each robot series and size, developed and implemented in close cooperation with the customer, of which the best example is the partnership with ABB Robotics. In addition, many other components for transmitting torque, i.e., shafts and gears, are also supplied, which are developed to meet the requirements of the specifi c application, as well.
For driving AMRs and AGVs, a sophisticated modular system consisting of gearboxes or geared motors, including a drive wheel, is available, which can also be further tailored for customer needs. The platform is called BlueRoll, and at its heart is the TQW wheel drive series, consists of three versions. In the basic version, the customer is completely free in terms of the motor. Besides the basically required features like torque and speed range, this modular solution provides opportunities

in all crucial aspects: compact dimensions, low-backlash gears, long-lasting brakes, low maintenance requirements, and robustness and effi ciency, among others. The new platform is an intelligent and reliable result of the deep know-how and far-reaching experience of Bonfi glioli, collected in many demanding industries.
For AGVs and AMRs With the advanced and compact versions, Bonfi glioli also supplies the motor fully assembled and ready for installation. In- house brushless AC motors starting from 12V and including cabling are available for this purpose. A single unit of the three available sizes of BlueRoll devices can be loaded with up to 360, 720 or 1,020 kilograms and reaches speeds of up to two meters per second. The gearbox is very compact and almost completely enclosed by the wheel, for reduced installation space. The compact design makes it extensively customisable for many applications.
Thanks to the mounting fl ange with both threaded and pass-through holes, the TQW is very easy to install, and, on the vehicle side, it can be fi tted directly to the chassis. Furthermore, the wheel is supported directly by the reinforced gearbox bearings, which permit very high
radial forces. Thanks to quality and precise planetary gears, the BlueRoll platform avoids unplanned downtimes. The BlueRoll Advanced version comes with a servo geared motor with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that matches the highest effi ciency standards. The version called “BlueRoll Compact” comes with an extra compact servo geared motor, saving 25% of the length of the BlueRoll Advanced system. In addition, it is designed to operate in S1 duty cycle with a reliable thermal optimisation. The motors off ered in Advanced and Compact version come with a wide range of feedback systems, including safety encoders. The BlueRoll platform supports customers in making the most compact and effi cient AGVs and AMRs, providing all the fl exibility that is needed. From the Basic line with its easy-installable and high-performing gearbox including a drive wheel, to the compactness and premium effi ciency of the Compact line gearmotor, BlueRoll is composed to be the ideal solution for AGVs and AMRs.
