TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIALS
ADVERTORIALS Nothing static at SEPURA™
One of the main driving forces behind the success of filtration specialist, Bowman Stor, is its deeply ingrained ethos of constant improvement and evolution. As well as continually honing its SEPURA™ range of world class oil/water separators, the UK-based company fully utilises its in-house R&D capability to continually improve production processes.
ABB wins Red Dot award for FlexPacker industrial Delta robot
• FlexPacker’s compact design quality, innovation and concept of focused productivity lands prestigious award
• The first industrial Delta robot to win the Red Dot award ABB’s IRB 390 FlexPacker® industrial Delta robot designed for ultra-fast packing has been chosen for the Red Dot Product Design Award – the second ABB robot to receive the prestigious award in two consecutive years.
The global Red Dot Design Awards recognize achievements in product design, with the jury – com- prised of over 50 international design experts – testing and evaluating thousands of entries every year. In 2022, the Red Dot Award panel looked for products that showed design quality and a high degree of innovation – attributes that informed the FlexPacker’s development from the beginning. The award reflects the importance of design in robotics as more automated solutions.

Currently, for instance, Bowman is working towards increasing output on its pre-filter production line.
Processes that involve shredded polypropylene can be hampered by static and friction which prevent the material from being a free-flowing product. By introducing anti-static bars, Bowman has effectively been able to eradicate the issue, with multiple benefits.
One vital advantage is that it makes the material safer for operatives to handle - eliminating the risk of static shocks. But, in addition, enabling the product to flow more freely allows shredded material to be easily moved into different filling station hoppers, reducing manual handling and automating the pre-filter production process.
Bowman is now looking to use air blowers to help further negate the friction element and improve material flow. The air movement will have the dual advantage of moving the lightweight product whilst simultaneously blowing the ions generated by the anti static bars towards the filling station.
Managing Director Richard Potts explains that it has been a long-term project: “We have been working on this development for several years now and we are at the final stages of producing our bespoke shred multi-filling station system”.

THREE MAJOR ACCREDITATIONS CONFIRM LANEMARK COMBUSTION ENGINEERING’S QUALITY, ENVIRONMENTAL AND MANUFACTURING PERFORMANCE
Process gas heating specialists Lanemark Combustion Engineering Ltd. are delighted to announce the achievement of three major industrial international accreditations which, simultaneously, define the company’s management, environmental and health and safety commitment.
“By being able to hold ISO 14001 Environ- mental Accreditation, ISO 45001 Health and Safety Accreditation and ISO 9001 Quality Accreditation at the same time reflects well on both our organisation and, of course, the people within it,” says Alan Thompson, Lanemark’s Operations Director. ISO 14001 certification demonstrates Lanemark’s commitment to controlling environmental impact, meeting relevant legal obligations and its focus on continu- ous improvement. Alongside this, ISO 45001 shows specific compliance with Health and Safety law and reflects on the methods and procedures across a wide range of company activities. Similarly, ISO 9001 demonstrates
Lanemark’s focus on delivering consistent, high quality products and services.
“The fact that recent audits have confirmed that, in each case, our methods and performance comply with these major global standards has a direct impact from both an internal and external perspective,” comments Jeff Foster, Sales Director.
“Increasingly, our customers are looking to their suppliers to deliver fully in these key areas so, apart from helping to ensure that we are meeting clearly structured goals, these certifications underpin our
sales efforts and ongoing work with customers across all markets,” he adds. Having been heavily involved in the ap- proval processes, Lanemark’s Joanne Topp, Integrated Management System (IMS) Administration Officer, and Lee Carroll, Health & Safety/IMS Training Coordinator, are now responsible for the ongoing i mplementation of the three standards – each of which will be subject to periodic assessment and audit in the future to ensure the high standards defined are being fully maintained.
“Since our formation in the 1980’s, we have always been very conscience of the three disciplines that these awards define,” adds Jeff Foster.
“As a specialist manufacturing organisation, with customers ranging from brewing and surface finishing to petro- chemical processing, and working in the highly controlled field of gas engineering, we have long been aware of our own and
our customers’ requirements. Now, being able to hold all three certifications concurrently demonstrates the performance and gains that can be achieved by our approach – to the benefit of all concerned,” he concludes.
