PRODUCTS & APPLICATIONS FLOW & LEVEL CONTROL QUICK AND EASY INSIGHTS

Emerson has introduced the Rosemount 8712EM Wall Mount Magnetic Flow Meter Transmitter with additional protocols, diagnostic capabilities and usability features to help users in the pulp and paper, metals and mining, and other industries gain quick and easy insight into their processes. The meter’s local operator interface

was designed using Human Centered Design concepts, making it easier and faster for technicians to navigate in the field. It’s diagnostic suite includes high process noise detection and ground fault detection. The electrode coating diagnostic offers two set points to alert when coating is present and when it is affecting flow measurement, enabling preventative maintenance. Smart Meter Verification continuously monitors the health and performance of the meter for measurement confidence. Universal transmitter capability

allows the 8712EM to operate with any existing magnetic flow meter sensor and allows backwards compatibility with all Rosemount magnetic sensors.

Xylem has launched two new flowmeters: the MagFlux Quad and the WRAS and MCERTS approved Flygt EMF801 MagFlux Flowmeter. Providing an accurate solution for flow measurement in pipes, the systems seamlessly integrate with Flygt’s range of pumps and control devices. Andrew Welsh, ICA general

manager, explains more about the products: both systems offer an accuracy of 0.25%, even when measuring slow flow velocity as low as 0.2m/sec, through to highs of 10m/sec. The in-built data logger is capable of recording 20,000 entries, giving both an accurate and a consistent reading when measuring flow where space

is a premium. Minimum pipe diameter for accurate flow on MagFlux EMF801 3x Diameter inlet and 2x Diameter outlet and on the MagFlux Quad only 1x Diameter inlet and 1x Diameter outlet. The MagFlux

Flowmeter and the MagFlux Quad come in a full range of sizes, from DN20 (3/4”) to DN1200 (48”), and both are also available with compact or remote mount design. This means that the intuitive, 5-line menu display can be fitted up to 1000m away from the sensor, if space restrictions are a challenge. For processes that involve a high level

CONTROL OF CONSTANT FLOW

Mass Flow ONLINE presents the new FLOW-CONTROL series, designed by Bronkhorst, for precise control of constant flow rates in low flow gas and liquid applications. The control valves do not require any electrical power source,

since the desired flow rate is manually set via the needle valve. Any upstream or discharge pressure variations are automatically compensated by a built-in membrane operated valve to ensure a steady, constant flow. The valve models’ design and construction ensure a pressure sensitivity smaller than 0,5-1% Rd/bar. The manual operated, pressure compensated control valve

series is available in 4 different models to control flow capacities in a range from 0.02 ln/min up to 50 ln/min (N2-equivalent) and 3 up to 1800 ml/min for water. While process connections are optionally available, the in-line valve assemblies are equipped with G 1/4” BSPP female in- and outlet ports. The new FLOW-CONTROL valves can be ordered easily from stock at Mass Flow ONLINE.

Arundo Analytics, a software company enabling advanced analytics in heavy industry, and ABB, have collaborated to create the first cloud-based virtual multiphase flow meters for the offshore oil and gas industry. This solution will be part of the fully integrated ABB Ability portfolio for the oil and gas industry.

COLLABORATION CREATES VIRTUAL FLOWMETERS For over fifty years, ABB has

delivered analytical insights into the offshore oil & gas industry - this includes modeling flows of individual phases of various intermingled fluids in a single stream. Typically, such flows are measured with expensive multiphase flow meters (MPFMs), which can mean significant capex. The cloud-to-cloud solution

“Our customers are demanding

lower purchase, installation, and ongoing support costs in their operations. Using the scalable Arundo software to combine physical models with the latest in data science and machine learning, we are able to bring a number of innovative, cloud-based data- driven applications to the oil & gas industry,” said Espen Storkaas, ABB Group vice president for Offshore Oil & Gas Digital.

will provide connectivity between ABB Ability and Arundo’s Composer and Fabric software in order to offer a more affordable and reliable option for oil & gas operators. This virtual flow meter provides analytics as a service to help facilities gain real-time data to understand the constituent properties of any given stream of produced fluids. “Arundo’s software is purpose- built for taking desktop-based

analytical models into live, online environments in just minutes. This collaboration will give the industry more transparency into their operations while also supporting with the need to find cost efficient, reliable solutions,” said Mogens Mathiesen, Co- founder and Commercial Lead at

Arundo.

of flow, the display can withstand submersion in a depth of up to 10 metres (30 feet). For ease of

installation, the MagFlux calibration code makes commissioning quick and simple. Once operating, the Flygt Flowmeters are also capable of detecting when the pipe is empty and will alert operators to prevent breakdown and

avert false flow calculations. Maintenance time is further cut by the system’s automatic electrode cleaning.

Xylem www.xylem.com/uk CHOICE WITHOUT COMPROMISE

Pulsar Process Measurement has launched mmWAVE, a compact FMCW RADAR sensor that offers accuracy, repeatable level measurement and compatibility with Pulsar’s full range of level controllers. That means that Pulsar customers can choose between mmWAVE RADAR and dB ultrasonic measurement without having to make any compromises in terms of functionality - they choose the right control solution and simply pair it with the appropriate measurement technology for the application. RADAR and non-contacting

ultrasonic measurement are complementary technologies which excel in different situations. RADAR is preferred where there is variation in temperature or changes in gas composition, and extremes of fog, haze, mist or rain, so users can now introduce Pulsar’s control functionality into new applications. mmWAVE RADAR is a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) transducer with a 16m range and accuracy of ±2mm. A major benefit to customers is that

mmWAVE sensors are compatible with existing Pulsar controllers already installed and used in the field, such as Ultra 3 and Ultra 5, meaning that sites can retrofit a RADAR sensor, redeploy Pulsar equipment across a wider range of applications, or test the performance of different measurement technologies.
