SAB Welding & Cutting Products has unveiled its Rebel EMP 255ic and Rebel EMP 320ic multi-process welders for MIG/MAG, DC MMA and TIG welding. Both units weigh 31.4kg and use 400V ±10% 3-phase supply voltage.

Rebel EMP 320ic provides a rated output of 320A/30V at 40% duty cycle and maximum output of 350A/34V, making it capable of running both solid and flux cored wires in heavy industrial applications. Rebel EMP 255ic provides a rated output of 255A/26.8V at 40% duty cycle and maximum output of 300A/34V and is suitable for industrial applications requiring 1.0 to 1.2mm wires.
“These Rebels are the most industrial Rebels yet. Their strong output enables users to gain the productivity benefits of spray arc welding with a wide array of wires on mild steel, stainless steel and even aluminum,” says Martin Freibergs, business product m anager Industrial/Light Industrial Product Systems, ESAB. “With a four-wheel roll system and a top wire speed of 20.3m/min combined with great torque, they can ensure accurate and consistent feeding of wires of all diameters.”

maintenance of low voltage motors. In partnership with
Emile Egger, a Swiss producer of pumps, ABB has now developed the
solution to remotely monitor pumps. The pump
manufacturer Emile Egger is constantly on the look-out for ways to improve its products and
processes. Michel
Grimm, Egger's chief business
development officer and grandson of company founder Emile Egger, became aware of the ABB Ability Smart Sensor in early 2017. This solution, developed by ABB in 2016, revolutionised the maintenance logistics of motors by enabling the owners to detect problems early due to remote monitoring. This meant that maintenance work could be carried out preventively for the first time and, thus, d owntime could be drastically reduced.
"Pumps, such as those in wastewater plants, usually fail without warning. In order to prevent typical problems such as blockages, it is necessary to
undertake time-consuming maintenance several times a week, "explains Grimm.
Egger considered that if smart sensors can monitor motors predictively, why shouldn't they be able to provid e the same valuable services for pumps? It t hen

contacted ABB, which gladly took up the challenge. The two companies decided jointly to develop a new smart sensor tailored to the specific needs of pumps. The combined experience of the engineers and scientists of ABB and Egger quickly led to success. In less than a year, the sensor solution has been successfully developed. Using their reliable hardware, the motor sensors were adapted such that they now can also provide readout values on p vibrations, unbalance, cavitation
(formation of vapour ump speed, overall
bubbles in fluids), and clogging. To achieve this, ABB used the scientific expertise of employees in Germany , India, the USA, and Switzerlan d

he UK’s leading independent provider of valve automation products, Actuated Solutions, has announced the exclusive availability of the KEH series quarter turn actuators from Quifer.
The KEH electro-hydraulic features a compact modular design, incorporating a spring return actuator and closed loop hydraulic pump. The springs provide a true failsafe action making the KEH ideal for critical and remote installations where instrument air is unavailable. sure is generated to open the actuator, omatically moves to the failsafe position.
The KEH springs do not require maintenance and are considered the industry standard for field proven reliable shutdown, offering better reliability than other solutions such as batteries which have a restricted temperature range, and require regular monitoring and periodi c replacement.
ASL’s Director, Chris Hickey, said he was pleased to be adding the KEH series to the firm’s portfolio: “The KEH is a real step forward in quarter turn actuation and it’s already proving to be very popular with customers demanding a robust solution for failsafe applications when air is not available. It’s a hugely versatile product and one that we know performs exceptionally well even in the most challenging of environments.”
The KEH series is available in nine sizes, delivering up to 1800NM of torque using a rack and pinion, and up to 50,000NM when using a Scotch Yoke. It offers multiple options - including push button local controls, limit switches, and manual override - and is available in a wide range of voltages from 24VDC to 400VAC Three phase.
SIL rated and available for both ATEX and safe areas, the new electro-hydraulic actuator affords users safety and functionality which includes full European certification and manufacture.
